When I saw Hector in the hallway carrying around my backpack and looking around, it made me get goosebumps and before I knew it, I was rushing through the crowd to get to him. He saw me when I was a few steps away and he greeted me with a kind smile and I threw my hands around him in a hug to which he immediately reacted to and hugged me back. His hugs were always so loving and full of comfort. Looking up at him and him looking down at me, I knew I was going to be happy. This felt genuine and right. This felt. . . healthy.

"Come on, let's get you to class," he chuckled and grabbed my backpack again from the floor, and walked along with me. "You missed a quiz by the way."

I gasped and turned to him with my eyes wide. I totally forgot that Tuesday was supposed to be our quiz day! Never in my life have I missed such an important thing! My grade! I worked hard for my grade and this is what I do to myself. How can I go home and face my mother now? Hector saw the panic on my face and chuckled at my misery.

"Make-ups are tomorrow during lunch. You can get it done then and with your smart brain, you'll still have plenty of time to still meet me for lunch. Plus, we can study after school," he said with a wink which made my cheeks turn red. "Now, get inside. You already skipped one period, you don't want to miss a second. I'll see you at break, okay?"

"Okay," I said with a sigh and grabbed my backpack from him. "Where will I meet you?"

"I'll meet you at your locker," he said and skimmed his hand over mine as he walked by.

That boy was something else. I found myself desperately waiting to meet up with him and I didn't pay attention to a single thing in class. I didn't even take notes, then again, I did do notes on this chapter and next week's chapter just last week so it wasn't anything new for me. Maybe that was why the teacher didn't give me a hard time. Needless to say, when the bell rang during my third class I was ready to run to my locker to meet him. To my surprise, he was already there waiting for me. He greeted me with a wide grin and I couldn't help the big smile that was on my face.

"Max texted me that he was busy with Caden and Charlie dragged Rosaline to the library to find her a tutor. Something about her math grade. But anyways, it's just us for the next fifteen minutes."

"Do you have any plans after school?"

He looked a bit taken aback at my question but he quickly recovered and said, "I have all the time in the world for you. But if it's for someone else, then I am busy 24/7."

"I'm serious," I laughed and began to switch out the books I needed with the ones I didn't need anymore. "I, um, I wanted to have dinner together."

"Yes!" he yelled a little too quickly and he cleared his throat to cover up his excitement. "I mean, yeah. I'd love to."

"Yo, Hector!"

We both turned in the direction of the voice and I immediately recognized the voice of the guy from yesterday in the bathroom. He was a tall guy with a bit of muscle. He wore a tight shirt with Dickie jeans and converse to finish off the look. His hair was a dark shade of brown that could easily be mistaken for black. He had a big smile on his face and he immediately gave Hector the bro shake showing how close they were.

"Dude I was just with the girls and man, they're planning on looking for you during lunch. I heard-"

"Dustin, this is Diego," Hector interrupted, giving me a nervous smile and looking back to Dustin who had wide eyes as if he had just seen me.

"Shit, my bad bro. I didn't see you there. I'm Dustin, a friend of Hector's from the gym."

"Hi, Dustin," I said politely and shyly. "I'm Hector's friend since childhood kinda. I'm his cousin's best friend."

"Max's best friend? Oh, I do know you!"

"Anyways," Hector said and wrapped an arm around my shoulder. "Like I said multiple times already, I'm not interested in any of them."

Dustin rolled his eyes and shook his head while saying, "I know you aren't. But they don't seem to understand. You're their dream guy!"

"He is perfect," I mumbled and felt Hector give my shoulder an affectionate squeeze.

"I'll be busy during lunch. You can keep them distracted."

"That doesn't work anymore," Dustin whined. "Just tell them you're seeing someone. They'll leave you alone. They're harassing me now to talk to you for them!"

"Don't act like you don't like the attention."

"I do but that's not the point."

"Well, I should get to class, the bell is going to ring soon," I said and looked up at Hector who nodded and began to walk on ahead with me.

"Yeah, we have to go. I'll see you later. Keep them busy for me!"

"Hector," Dustin whined as we walked away. "You owe me!"

"So, what was that about?"

"That? That was nothing. Really, I mean it."

"Those girls don't seem to think so," I couldn't help but chuckle. "Do I have competition?"

"There is no competition. You're the only one there is," he said and pulled me to the hallway that barely any students walked through since it had classrooms that were only used for test taking. "I missed you."

"I missed you too," I said and looked down shyly at our hands that were connected.

He brought our hands up and placed a kiss on my knuckles, making my heart skip a beat. Maybe I had a problem that caused me to fall so quickly for people. I always thought I'd be distant in my relationships because of how nervous and shy I was but here I am, already in my second relationship and falling hard. This felt different though, it felt like it was supposed to happen.

"Can I kiss you?" he asked while gently raising my chin up so he can look at me. "Please?"

I could only nod my head at his request and a second later his lips landed on mine. He immediately took control and one of his hands held my waist to pull me in closer. His kiss captured me and I was all his now. I felt weak at the knees when he dared to deepen the kiss. I was a panting mess at the end of it and he had a proud grin. My cheeks were burning and I could tell he loved how he could get me like this.

"I'll see you at lunch," he said and gave me one last kiss before heading to class.

He was going to drive me crazy.
