Christmas (Modern)

Christmas day with the gang. Its going to be chaos. 

Christmas morning

"HICCUP! Wake up! It's Christmas!" 

The gang had all slept round at Astrid's house and were now regretting it as she was bouncing around making an absolute racket and not shutting up. Despite it being 6 o'clock in the morning, the gang knew they were not getting any more sleep lest they get killed by Astrid.  Many groans were heard as the gang dragged themselves out of their sleeping bags. 

Presents

"Present time! Hiccup! You go first." Hiccup opened a neatly wrapped present to find the entire set of dragon figurines he had been collecting. On the label it said 'Hope this helps with your collection, love Astrid'.

"Thanks Astrid, these are amazing."

Hiccup also received a book about technology and film making from Fishlegs, cookies from Heather, a back scratching thing from Snotlout and a very weird looking parcel from the twins which turned out to be a stuffed dragon.  Let's just saw they thought it was funny when it started singing. Everyone got a singing plush toy from the twins despite that they are all 15.

Mistletoe

"Hey Astrid can I talk to you for a minute? Please" 

"Sure, lets go outside"

The two grab their coats and stand outside under the porch.

"What's up?"

"I wanted to thank you personally for those figurines. They really mean a lot to me."

"It's nothing. I could tell how much you wanted them."

"How did you afford all of them? For all of them, it is well over a thousand pound."

"A lady has her secrets."

After a little more talking they realised they were standing under mistletoe. Astrid blushed bright red and Hiccup scratched the back of his neck nervously. Gently Hiccup brushed a stray strand of hair behind her ear before leaning in slowly, waiting for her approval. Astrid gave a small nod before Hiccup kissed her gently. It was the best feeling in the world. Nothing could compare to the fireworks in their stomachs. 

After a good minute, they pulled away reluctantly for air. Astrid suddenly dumped a load of snow of Hiccup's head leading to a vicious snowball fight which everybody saw and joined in.

Christmas Dinner

All of the gang's families came round for Christmas dinner, with the mothers on kitchen duty and the fathers were building the gifts they were given...without the instruction booklets (because that's how fathers do things). The gang were sat around the fire, Hiccup with his arm around Astrid's shoulders. Needless to say, Heather would be grilling Astrid about what happened when they went outside later. Christmas carols were playing in the background and all of the dogs were curled up snoring. 

When dinner was called , there was a mad rush to the table to which the mothers stood out of the way of. Everybody had learned if you didn't get your food before the fathers, you had very little to eat.  When everyone had a satisfactory amount of food on their plates, everybody dug in. They all shared stories of past Christmases when the gang were younger and many embarrassing stories as well.

Christmas Movie

The radio was turned up full blast and the twins were dancing around the living room singing very off key at the top of their lungs. When they had finished, everyone applauded before settling down to watch The Polar Express with hot chocolate in their hands. The twins overloaded theirs with whipped cream and  marshmallows. Fishlegs and Heather just had marshmallows, Hiccup had whipped cream and Snotlout and Astrid just had theirs plain. 

Eventually, everyone fell asleep. Heather was curled up next to a snoring Fishlegs, Snotlout was laying face down on the floor having been pushed of the couch by the twins in their sleep. Speaking of which, they were a tangle of limbs but were out cold. Hiccup and Astrid sat comfortably in each others arms. Unknown to everyone else, they kissed in the firelight before falling asleep together, the movie still playing quietly in the background.
