Biting down

When the team returned they then talked to Dr Spike Taylor - Max's dad, about what they had found.

"You're saying that's a real triceratops?" Said Max's dad looking over at the little triceratops.

"Yeah Chomp's totally real"

"You named him Chomp?" His dad asked. "Yup, because he chomps down on anything he can get his beak onto!" Max explained pointing to Chomp chewing on the porch.

"So that card turned into a dinosaur?" Dr Taylor mumbled. "And what does this card do?" He asked looking at it in between the egg capsule.

"I don't know, I found it along with Chomp's card, don't you know?"

"How am I supposed to know?" Dr Taylor replied.

"Because you're an expert on dinosaurs, aren't you?"

"...yes and I thought I knew just about everything but this is the first I've heard of little dinosaurs popping out of cards..."

"Actually, it was a full sized one!" Rex said.

"Are you joking? where? Where is it now? The full sized one?"

"Here..." said Max, passing the lightning stone over to his dad. "Twist that little knob on the side"

His dad fiddled with the knob but nothing happened. "Are you sure that's what you did?" He asked. "Yes, let me try this time" Max said and took the stone and twisted the knob. Chomp instantly turned into a card, then Max slashed it downwards on the stones groove and the card turned into a fully grown triceratops. Everyone, but Max, cried out in fright. "Put it back Max!" Zoe and Rex yelled. Max quickly returned Chomp to a card and slashed him back to chibi form. They all sighed in relief.

"This is a huge discovery!" Dr Taylor cried out. "But for now let's keep this our little secret..." He whispered. "If word gets out of this, it will create all sorts of pandomonium!"

Then Max's mum came out onto the porch. They all froze. "Good morning! Time for breakfast...Zoe, I didn't know you were here"

"Oh I just got here!" Zoe quickly replied.

Max's mum noticed Chomp. She knelt down in front of him. "Well now? Who's this cute little guy?"

"That's...Chomp" Max replied, while his dad quickly grabbed hold of Chomp. "He's a really unique looking dog" she said. "Well he followed Max home, so whattaya say, can we keep him?" Dr Taylor asked.

"That will be fine, but you'll be the one taking care of him Max" she replied happily.

"Yeah, I will mum, don't you worry."

"OK, now let's have breakfast, Zoe you can join us if you like" she told them.

She walked inside and Max asked his dad "we have to keep this a secret from mum?"

"Yes but only for now" he replied.

Then they walked inside to have breakfast.
