The next day Topanga called Shawn to fill him in on everything so he would be able to talk Maya into listening to Josh explain everything to her. Josh had spent the night at the Matthews in anticipation because all he wanted to do was to talk to Maya and make up with her. While Topanga spoke with the Shawn on the phone Josh was listening at their conversation like a little boy, super nervous. Maya and her mum Katie were at the bakery working their shift but Shawn assured Topanga to call his wife to also fill her in so that Josh could go over to the bakery later on. For now he took Auggie to the park to get his mind off a little.
After the two came back from the park, Auggie had an idea „Uncle Josh, can we please go to Topangas? I really want to get a cake and you can say hi to Maya."
Josh was laughing a little at Auggies suggestion because he already had plans to go and see Maya as soon as possible. He shot a questioning look at Topanga though because he had no idea whether Katie was already filled in on the news of Joshs innocence. Topanga just nodded „yeah that sounds like a great idea Auggie, you two can go, it's all good." She gave an encouraging smile at Josh and the two boys left the apartment for the bakery.

Josh tried very hard to stay cool and put on a brave face but inside he felt like he was gonna faint thats how nervous he was to face Maya. They opened the door to the cafe and for a few seconds, Josh just stood at the entrance and his eyes fell straight on the beautiful blonde girl who stood by the coffee machine to get the orders ready. Just for a moment it felt as if nothing ever happened and he imagined how it would be to just walk over to Maya and pull her into a hug and gaze into her gorgeous blue eyes. But then reality hit him as Maya turned around and her gaze fell immediately at Josh, she looked as if she would have a panic attack. She turned to her mother with a panicked look on her face while Katie was putting away some dishes.

„It's okay Baby girl, you got this." She encouraged her daughter. But Maya was so confused as to why her mother would be okay with Josh coming in after all that happened.

„Maaaaaya, look who I brought here to say hi", Auggie yelled as he ran up to Maya.

„Auggie" she too tried to play along so Auggie wouldn't notice what was going on, „that is so nice of you to think of, let me guess, you want some cake, huh?" she smirked, pinching his cheek softly while Auggie just nodded and giggled.

Katie thought about what to do so Josh and Maya could have a moment to themselves. „Auggie, Josh, nice to see you two." She said as Josh slowly walked closer towards the counter where Auggie stood in front of Maya getting more nervous. „Auggie, you know what? I will bring you some cake and then you can check out our new reading area for kids, there are lots of cool books and toys. Your uncle Josh and Maya need to talk for a little while. Is that okay with you?"

Maya was shocked at her mothers suggestion but couldnt say anything in front of Auggie so she just frowned at Katie.

„Okay aunt Katie, I have a big sister with a Boyfriend, I know how long these things take, yuck." He made a disgusted face which brought a smile to Joshs face. Katie quickly went over to Maya and whispered in her ear „Trust me sweetheart, you gonna want to talk to Josh, what he will tell you is important". And with that she took a piece of cake, took Auggie by the hand and went over to the kids area with him.

Maya just stood there, still oblivious as to what her mum just told her and still not fully convinced to speak to Josh at all. Joshs hands were completely sweaty but he was eager to talk to Maya to finally make up with her so they could continue their special relationship.
„Uhm, Maya, I know you don't really wanna talk to me but please just give me 2 minutes to explain something to you." he stated with a pleading look at Maya

„Okay, you have two minutes, lets go to the back, I don't want people to listen in."

They both went to the back into the break room and sat down at the table. Josh took a deep breathe and started to explain everything that had happened, the fact that Amber drugged him and stated the whole scene, everything.
It took Maya a while to process all of what Josh had just told her. It started to make so much sense to her and she started to feel guilty for even believing that Josh would hurt her in this way.

„Josh, I, I don't know what to say, I am so sorry that you had to go through this and I am so sorry that I even believed that you could hurt me like that, I feel so bad." She said as she teared up

Josh scooted closer to Maya and slowly put his hand over hers smiling comfortingly at her „Hey, gorgeous, dont feel bad, of course you believed it I mean I would have too if I were you and saw what you saw. So don't blame yourself for that please. The good thing is that this nightmare is over and luckily only took a two days." he caressed her hand with his thumb which made Maya feel butterflies in her stomach, a feeling she missed.
Maya started to play with Josh's fingers. „You know Josh, even though it was only two days, I missed you so bad despite all my pain."
Now Josh felt butterflies in his stomach as he retorted „I know, it makes sense, I also missed you, more than you can imagine."

Maya stood up with tears in her eyes again „Josh, hold me please." was all that she was able to say as she started to weep

Josh got up and immediately pulled her towards him. He held her while Maya wept into his chest. He gently stroke her head with his hand and he just comforted her until she slowly calmed down again.

Josh softly ran his fingers through Mayas hair and kissed the top of her head „It's okay, gorgeous, it's all okay now."

She just nodded while smiling at him, enjoying his presence, soaking in the comfort of his embrace. She wished she could stay there forever.
