I waited for her in the production floor so I could talk to her personally but she never showed up. Just then, I received a notice from our cluster manager that she filed an immediate resignation to focus on her career.

I've been so devastated the whole day but I tried my best not to look like it to avoid adding suspicions.

I visited her condo right after the shift but she's no longer there. I was about to leave when one of her neighbors saw me. If I remembered it correctly, his name is Joe: a middle-aged American man who lives with his 19 years old Filipina wife.

"Hey, kid! You're her boyfriend, right?" He asked and I shook my head.

"W-we already broke up." I whispered and he nodded.

"I'm sorry to know that." He sighed and walked towards me. "I supposed you already know though I doubt it since you, two, have already broken up."

"Pardon me?" I asked the moment he placed a hand on my shoulder.

"She has been rushed to the hospital last night."

"WHAT?!" I shrieked. "Why?! What happened?"

"I don't know what really happened but I know which hospital she was confined in."

I immediately went to the hospital Joe told me but she has been transferred to a different hospital which is an eight-hour travel from the office.

I didn't care and immediately went to see her. I stopped at the nurse station to ask for her room number and they asked me how I am related to Paige. I panicked by the thought that they might not let me in if I introduced myself as a friend or a boyfriend so I introduced myself as her husband.

I just badly want to see her.

"Oh! Mister Lee Beign. Do not worry, your wife will no longer be transferred to the ICU. She's already doing fine."

I was only left staring at the nurse as her words kept echoing in my mind until someone stopped beside me.

"Good day! May I ask when will my wife be transferred to the ICU?"

I looked up and saw a man wearing a black suit and a tie. By the look of it, he must be a business man.

"May I know the name of your wife, sir?" I heard the nurse asked.

"Paige Beihn." He smiled.

"Y-you're mister John Lee Beihn?" The nurse asked. I could feel her stares digging through my flesh which made him look at me in askance.

"Y-you're Paige's husband?" I stuttered.

His eyes grew in circles for only a split second and sighed.

"So, you must be Santi." He intoned.
