My name is Keiko Yukimura, a time leaper. We can manipulate time, can go back to the past and see the future.
This may sound crazily ridiculous and man-made fiction but here I am, suffering from the consequences for tampering time.
I used to be a typical high school girl when I found a rusty, old, pocket watch washed in the seashore and everything started to change when I discovered the mystery behind it.
It was one afternoon when me and my best friend, Yusuke, played soccer. I watched him as he gained an ample amount of physical strength, striking the penalty ball with full force.
Determined, I flew, stretching my arms to block it but unfortunately, I tripped and failed to gain momentum, so I ended up falling into the steel tubular frame.
Just then, a tick of a clock echoed, and hazes dimmed the blue hued skies which seems to be breaking apart into shifting patterns of red and orange hues.
I inclined my head to see what happened next but to my surprise, a timepiece with familiar scenes came flashing out of nowhere. My lips parted as the scenes became clearer then all of the sudden, I saw Yusuke in front of me in the same position before he kicked the ball.
"Is everything okay?" He asked when he saw me looking at him, bewildered.
I batted my eyes and forced a smile, "ahh...yes!"
"Are you sure? You seem to look pale," he asked again, picked up the ball and walked towards me. "Should I accompany you to the clinic?" His voice went low, sounding all worried.
"I-I'm fine, really."
"Hmm... okay but let's go home for now so you could rest."
He laid a hand on my head and nuzzled my hair.
"You do know, I hate my hair being nuzzled, right?" I asked, squinting my eyes so he immediately pulled his hand away, chuckling.
Bunch of questions came running inside my mind as if I'm interrogated inside a court with nothing to say at all.
I reached home and as usual, mom isn't around. She only gets home every midnight and leaves before I wake up in the morning, so I have no one to share this confusion with.
I was about to take my pants off when something fell into the floor-it's the pocket watch! My forehead creased as I bent to pick it up.
Despite of being confused, I still chose to shrug it off but ever since that day, I always had it with me. Afternoon sessions are finally done, so Yusuke and I went to the seashore to watch the sunset-our usual heading-home ritual-and sat on a flattened rock, just a couple of steps away from the waters.
I squinted an eye as I raised the pocket watch in front of the sun and my lips parted when it reflected different shades of blue and green.
The time read 6:42 PM. This thing already looks so old. It even lost its cover yet amazingly, it's still working just as fine.
"Woah! Where did you get that?" Yusuke beamed, placing his cup of coffee on his lap.
"Over there." I pointed the space behind us.
"Oh, really? That's cool!"
I thinned my lips and placed it back on my pocket.
"Say... what course will you take in college?" He asked, nudging the sands with the sole of his foot.
"I don't know. I don't wanna go to college."
I could see his brows raising through my peripheral vision, "why?"
