Chapter 4.5
: Now what?
We were silently watching mystery boy breath softly, the rise and fall of his bloodied chest becoming hypnotizing; and then he made something that basically snapped us out of our daydreaming. He scratched his fluffy doggie ears.
I felt Jess stiff next to me and then he tugged my sleeve.
-“You made sure we didn’t drink anything out of the ordinary when being in the pub, last night .Didn’t you?”-He asked turning to me narrowed eyes.
-“Dude, we are so screw… and not in the good sense.”-I said tugging my bangs out of my face.
I pulled out my cell and dialed Cain to let him know we had made it to the Inn, but not mentioning anything about our little problem. Jess scowled at my simple answers but didn’t say anything; Only after I hung up, did I pull back the blanket to
cover his head.
-“He wouldn’t have believed it. I know I wouldn’t.”-I sighed.-“Come on, we can’t
take him to a clinic… I’ll check on the internet about how can we help him”-I
added rubbing circles in my temples to calm a building migraine.
-“You are actually carry on with our plans…He is not even human!”-Hissed in disbelieve Jess.
-“Neither were those who did this to him or the others…”-I answered making eye contact with him to let him know how serious I was.
-“Others?”-He asked paling to my words.
-“There was nothing we could have done…”-I repeated trying to block the memories from that cave and turning my head so that he couldn’t see how much it still affect me.
-“We need to know…But later, later we’ll try to make sense of all this”-He said, squeezing my shoulder to let me know that he was going on with the plan.
We managed to pass through the lobby, thanking the gods about how the people usually went to nap after having lunch, so that we didn’t have much to deal with. I was the only student with a room for herself, so we used my bedroom.
It was pretty small, with enough space for a nightstand, a bed and a rustic
armoire. The only thing I liked about the room, was the window; the view to the lush green forest and had the advantage of the fires escape that we had tried to reach last night just made up for all the room.
By the time we had managed to put him in my bed, I had made a mental list of all the things I would need to try and fix him up.
I pulled a notepad from my backpack and scrambled things that I would need like scalpel, straight hemostats, tweezers, scissors, sutures, and antiseptic solution. I had had enough practice stitching sponges at the hospital…Though Jess seemed reluctant to do so, but after deciding we didn’t had none else to do the job. It was
decided better a deformed scar across the chest instead of a body bag for our
mystery boy.
