As he left the hospital, he picked up his phone and called his assistant.

"Adam, find a way to get an update on Ms. Lancaster's condition. ASAP," he hung up and drove home.

"Everything ok?" Melanie asked him as he walked in.

"Yeh, Mel," he answered curtly, not in the mood to brief her. "What date is your flight back again?"

"Next week. By the way, is that birthday dinner still happening this week?"

"I don't think that will be happening."

"Why? What happened?"

"Yes, Adam, talk to me" he answered his phone, ignoring her question.

"Sir, she has some bruised ribs, a dislocated shoulder, and a cut on her head. She is supposed to be having an x-ray done later today, and should be discharged if everything looks good."

"Do you know when she was admitted?"

"Saturday afternoon, Sir."

He exhaled loudly, "I want an update once her x-ray is done," and hung up the phone. It must have been on her way home from the pier. "Were they arguing?" he thought. He took his phone and scrolled to Joseph's number, before putting it back on the table, deciding against it.

Later that afternoon, Brianna sat in the hospital bed, missing the comfort of her home. She had just completed her x-ray and was waiting for the doctor to come around with the results. Joseph had taken Nicholas to his grandmother's and should be back any minute. Saturday was a blur for her, she barely remembers the accident happening. Vivid in her mind though, was Joseph's face as he was driving. Her mind filled with worry as she remembered that murderous look. "Why was he so upset?" she thought.

Just then, the doctor walked in with Joseph behind him.

"Hello, Brianna," Dr. Mendes smiled brightly, "we have your results and it is all looking good from here. But since it is almost 6, your papers for your discharge will only be processed tomorrow morning. So you get to spend another exciting night with us."

"Another night?" Brianna exhaled.

"Yes, your discharge papers should be done by 9 tomorrow morning. Consider tonight as an extra night of rest. You will come back in two weeks for us to check out how you're healing. Please, do take things slow when you get home" Dr. Mendes advised before leaving the room.

"I'm so bored here," she complained to Joseph.

"I know, it's just one more night," Joseph sat holding her hands. Brianna leaned back against her pillows and closed her eyes briefly.

"Brie, I can't stay long today. Mum is supposed to be going for dinner with her friends. So, I have to get back to Nicky."

"That's ok. I'll just read a bit afterward until I fall asleep."

Joseph gave her a quick hug and a kiss on her cheek before leaving.

In the hospital lobby, a skinny man wearing glasses picked up his phone. "Sir, she's alone."

"Thanks, Adam."

Ten minutes later, Frankie knocked on her door, with a bag of Chinese take-out in hand.

Surprised, Brie stared at him, "Wh- what are you doing here?"

"Hello to you too," he smiled.

"Sorry, hi, I wasn't expecting you."

"How are you feeling?"

"I'm good, I guess. Still sore, but I'll be going home tomorrow. How did you know I was here?"
