The first thing you guys did was walk into an elevator to get to his office. The first thing that came out of Steve's mouth was "You just can't stop yourself from lying, can you?" Fury turned around and gave you a look that said "I'm sorry." You rolled your eye "I didn't lie. Agent Romanoff and Agent Stan had a different mission than yours." You then nodded. Steve must have heard that nod. He looked at you and shook his head "Which you didn't feel obliged to share." You then facepalmed. " I'm not obliged to do anything." Fury stated. Steve looked away and smirked "Those hostages could've died, Nick." He then looked at Steve unphased "I sent the greatest soldier in history to make sure that didn't happen."
Steve looked at you while saying this part "Soldiers trust each other, that's what makes it an army. Not a bunch of guys running around and shooting guns." You looked at him "Well good thing I'm not a soldier." He then added annoyance as another negative thing he is thinking of you right now. "I can't lead a mission when the people I'm leading have missions of their owns." He said as he pointed to you. You then rolled your eyes "Fury for the love of God explain to the man." Steve rolled his eyes.
Fury put his finger on his desk "It's called compartmentalization. Nobody spills the secrets because nobody knows them all." Steve then smiled "Except you." Fury straightened his posture "You're wrong about me. I do share. I'm nice like that." He gestured the both of you to come to the elevator. You both went down the elevator.
Nick said "Insight bay." Gia warned, "Captain Rogers does not have clearance for Project Insight." You then said "Level nine override, Stan, Y/N L." She said 'Confirmed." Steve looked at you "Why are you a level nine I thought you were a seven." You then graced "I forgot to tell you a week after you and got together. I was promoted to level eight. Then because the Director over here, made me lie to you about my true mission. So I bargained for promotion. So now I am a Level nine." He then looked madder. This man "Why didn't you tell me?!" You then sighed frustrated "I was busy." He wasn't convinced. "I was really busy doing missions here and there. Steven Grant Rodgers don't get ahead of yourself."
He let it go. But you knew damn well when you both got home you guys were going to continue at it. You needed to talk to Peggy. You and she became friends after meeting her. She is an amazing one too. She never judged it was nice to have somebody else to talk to. Nat was amazing. But you felt like you would make her uncomfortable. Talking about a life she never wants to have again.
You smiled " You know, they used to play music." Nick smiled " Yeah. My grandfather operated one of these things for forty years. My granddad worked in a nice building, he got good tips." You and Steve smiled. You weren't from the forties but you played someone that was from it so you knew a good amount. "He'd walk home every night, roll of ones stuffed in his lunch bag. He'd say 'hi', people would say hi back. Time went on, neighborhood got rougher. He'd say 'Hi', they'd say, 'Keep on steppin'. Granddad got to grippin' that lunch bag a little tighter." Steve then asked, "Did he ever get mugged?" Nick smirked " Every week some punk would say, "What's in the bag?" You then reciprocated the smirk "What did he do?"
He then leaned back "He'd show 'em. Bunch of crumpled ones and loaded .22 Magnum. Fury smiles "Granddad loved people. But he didn't trust them very much." You were lost in thought. You now were thinking of how Buck must be alive. You and Steve spotted project insight you knew about this project already. You didn't tell Steve because to quote Fury "It's not his department. Also as you boss, you are not allowed to tell him."
Fury stated "Yeah, I know. They're a little bit bigger than a .twenty-two." You guys walked out of the elevator You then anoucced "This is Project Insight. Three next generation Helicarriers synced to a network of targeting satellites." Steve then looked at you "Launched from the Lemurian Star." Then Fury said "Once we get them in the air they never need to come down. Continuous suborbital flight courtesy of our new repulsor engines." He sounded proud of this. "Stark?" Steve asked.
