Chapter 15

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I threw my body to the hard gravel on to my right shoulder; I rolled over several times then sprawled across the road. The car went to a quick stop and spun round facing me. I scrabbled to my feet and started to sprint towards the woods. My whole body was screaming of me to stop moving, but I couldn’t or Steven would catch me. I carried on; not slowing the pace down; Steven was right on my heels. My heart was burning; I knew I couldn’t carry on for much longer. The night was chilly and dark, fortunately my wolf senses where there to guide me. I sped up the pace to gain those few valuable steps. I suddenly turned to hide behind the tree, breathing heavily I regained my breathing. I heard Steven’s heavy footsteps. He stopped and took in a deep sniff.

“I can smell you Eliza.” He chuckled, walking closer to my tree. I started to climb up the tree using all my strength into hiding myself. Steven looked around then saw me.

“Ah they’re you are!” He grinned, manically. He took one weak tug at my dangling foot and I came collapsing down the tree. I landed in a heap, I groaned in pain. But the adrenaline and wolf blood was with me, I just had to be strong for a few more hours. I did something risky. I tackled Steven to the ground. I got up however Steven was too quick and pulled me back to the ground. He was tower over me.

“You will never get away from me.” He taunted. I growled and threw my leg hitting him in the groin he fell to his knees, I slapped him on the ears to stop his hearing, then I used all my weight to jump on his leg, I heard the pleasurable sound of the crack. Steven howled in pain. He wouldn’t be leaving anytime soon.

I started to run away from him. I was in agony but I would crawl if I had to get home. Neither Noah nor the pack must know where I have been. My leg would be fine it was just a fracture; nothing a night’s sleep couldn’t fix. I wasn’t so sure about my arm though. I carried on though I was miles away from home.

Finally I found a main road; I would get a lift from a stranger to the nearest bus stop. What felt like for hours finally a pickup truck stopped and rolled down its window an elderly couple looked at me expectantly. They didn’t seem the usually elderly married couple, they had the eyes that told many stories and wouldn’t stand any nonsense, but I knew they wouldn’t leave a sixteen year old at the side of the road.

“Can I have a lift?” I pleaded. The man nodded signalling for me to get in the back. I gave him a grateful look and got into the back. There was Great Dane lounging across the seat, however grudgingly he moved his head to let me sit down.

  “Where to?” The man asked.

“Um..the nearest bus stop?” I replied hopefully.

“Oh no, sweetie we’ll take you home.” The lady smiled kindly.

  “Don’t worry, it’s far away.” I spoke.

“It doesn’t matter.” The women said firmly.

“Um...Chindescape.” I muttered embarrassingly. I felt really bad they were taking me somewhere so far away. I wouldn’t have them drop me off at the house, I needed my car.

“Okay.” She approved. “I am Sally and this is Ted.” She introduced.

“Okay, I’m Elizabeth.” I mentioned. They defiantly weren’t werewolves so it was okay to give my  real name and I felt I owed them the truth.

For the whole trip we sat in silence, I liked Ted and Sally I could see that they saw I was not in a place that I wanted to answer questions and I needed to have some peace. The adrenaline had gone and was replaced by unbearable pain. My leg was very battered, my lip was very swollen, I think my shoulder was dislocated and my neck throbbed. I was exhausted.
