Chapter 21. Good shot.

Paige's POV

I woke up and I was in my bed. I swear I fell asleep on the couch with Carl... Carl! He probably carried me up here.

I got up and went to take a shower. I smiled and remembered my mom is here with me. I got out and changed into some black tights, a white shirt, and one of Carl's red long sleeve plaided flannel shirt. I put in my combat boots and put a grey scarf around my neck. I got a purse and wrapped it around my neck and out some books in it for later. I moved my necklace to it was in view and walked out.

"Morning sugar." My mom said and kissed my head.

" Morning. She showered open if you need it." I said and her mouth dropped.

" Y'all never told me there was a shower. She said and ran into the bathroom.

" With warm water too!!!" She yelled and I smiled.

I walked downstairs while putting my wet hair in a grey beanie.

" Morning beautiful." Carl said and I felt two arms go around my waist.

" Morning. Did you carry me to my room last night?" I asked and kissed him.

" Maybe..." He trailed off and I laughed and shook my head.

" Paige?" Sasha said and walked over to me.

" Hey what's up." I said and she looked worried.

" I have to go in a run. Can you take over guard duty for me till I get back?" She asked.

" Yeah of course but why me." I said and she sighed.

" Everyone else has jobs and your a good shot!" She snapped and I nodded. She left and I walked out.

" Be careful." Carl said and kissed me.

" Tell my mom where I am if she needs me." I yell before going into a spring down the street. I went to the weapon and food offices and walked in.

" What brings you here Paige?"Olivia asked me as I walked up to her desk.

" I'm here to check out one of the machine guns." I said and she looked confused.

" Now why is that? And how old are you to be exact." She said.

" Sasha went on a run and asked me to keep guard for her and I'm 16." I said back and she wrote some things down and got up. I followed her to the back and picked out a gun.

" Here's extra ammo just in case." She said and I took it. I wrapped the strap around my shoulder and walked outside. The tower was in a corner of the town. There's window openings on every side, so you can see every spot outside and in. I walked in the tower and Josh, one of the gate guys, stopped me.

" What are you doing here?!" He snapped at me.

" Sasha told me to take her place. Now if you'll excuse me, I'm trying to protect you people." I snapped back and he let me through. What's has gotten into me? After Sasha snapped at me, it just brought out the sassy side in me.

I sat on a bench and put my silencer on the end of the fun. I always carry it with me if I ever have a bag or something. I got the binoculars that were up here and looked around. It was clear but something moved to my right. I looked through the scope of the gun cause it gave me a better focus. I saw brown hair and they turned around to look behind them. It was Edin. I wonder why she's out there.

The Walkie-talkie to my right went off and I grabbed it.

" How's it looking Paige?"Josh asked and I pressed the button.

" Clear for now." I said. I didn't want to snitch on Edin cause we are trying to be friends right now. I out the gun down and leaned back in my chair. I would not be able to be up here every hour of everyday. It's so boring...

I took another look through the scope. There was a bunch of walkers piled up against the wall on the north side.

" Josh. The north side is a bunch of walkers piled up against the wall. What do it do?" I asked. I waited for him to answer and he did.

" Shoot them. When there all dead I'll have someone drag them away later." He said.

" Kay." I said and grabbed my gun. I aimed and shot. There was about 20 of them.

It didn't take long till they were all dead and I informed Josh. He sent people out there to drag them away and I watched their surroundings. A walker was coming so I shot it. One of he people out there was Abraham. He have me a thumbs up and I nodded at him. He's a big pain in the ass, but you get used to him after a while.

" You can go now." Sasha said pushed me out of the chair.

" Look I don't know what your problem is but you need to stop. I'm sorry about Tyreese and Bob. Everyone is. But you don't need to take your pain out on everyone else. We are trying to help you live!" I growled at her.

" You don't know what it feels like to loose someone so close to you! It hurts like hell!" She yelled back and I lost it.

" You don't know what I've been through before you came into our lives! I lost one of my best friends! I lost Beth! She may have not been family but she was pretty damn close. I don't want to hear none of your ' you don't know how it feels' shit, cause I do know how it feels." I yelled and ran out. I had tears running down my face by now. I ran into the weapons office and set the gun on Olivia's desk.

I ran back to the house and up to my room before anyone could say a word. I collapsed on my bed and cried. My mom came in and without a word, sat on my bed and rubbed my back. I cried so hard and I felt my chest tighten. I tried to stop crying but I couldn't. I sat up and my breathing started to get heavy.

" In- haler." I choked out and pointed to my duffle bag. She grabbed it and Pumped it. I calmed down and she hugged me. I noticed she was in a nursed uniform and I looked up at her.

" We're you at work?" I asked and she nodded.

" Olivia told me she saw you crying and I left. What happened." She asked and I shook my head.

" I lost me temper towards Sasha." I said and she nodded. She knew if other people yell at me I will loose it and yell back. We didn't talk, she just sat there rubbing my arm. The door cracked open and Carl stood there. My mom kissed my head and left.

" Baby." Carl said and laid down next to me.

" I just wanna sleep." I said and cuddled up to his chest.

" Go ahead. I'm not going anywhere." He whispered and I nodded. I kissed his chest and closed my eyes.

" I love you." He said and covered us up.

" I love you too." I said and fell asleep.
