"ARE YOU SURE ABOUT THIS RINA?"

Rosa Dorada looked up at her daughter before looking back down at the invitation.

"Not really but we'll see how it plays out." Carina shrugged, looking through the many dresses her mother had made her.

"Which one should I pick Ma?" She questioned, holding up two dresses which had caught her eye.

"Definitely not the green, go with the purple one." She said, pointing at the purple dress.

"Thank you! Oh and are you coming?" Carina asked her mother though her mother just sighed.

"I'll see, I have a lot to finish up but maybe I'll stop by for a bit." She replied, running her hand through her hair as she put her focus back to the dress that she was making.

The teenager frowned as she noticed how stressed her mother was, Carina made a mental note to bring some cake for her after the ceremony.

Carina got changed quickly, not wanting to be late to the gift ceremony. She stumbled down the stairs but quickly caught herself in the last second.

"Damn, that was close." Carina laughed to herself as she flattened down her dress. She took a deep breath in as she stood in front of the door.

She was about to open it but with her luck the door was slammed open which resulted in it smacking Carina right in the face.

"Ow! Fuck, ow fuck." She exclaimed in pain, clutching her nose which was probably bleeding.

"Oh shit Carina! I'm so sorry." Mirabel panicked, getting a rag and handing it to her friend who was sat on the floor.

"You know what, I think this is like a sign from the universe telling me that I definitely should not go to the gift ceremony." Carina concluded as Mirabel helped her up from the floor.

"Too late, you already agreed." Mirabel grinned mischievously, pulling Carina outside.

Carina quickly threw the rag inside before the door closed, she felt her heart starting to race as she saw the many people outside.

Mirabel payed no mind to Carina's worries as she pulled her along the town and up the hill to the Madrigal house.

The house never failed to leave Carina speechless, her lips curved into a tight smile before it dropped instantly.

There he is.

He had obviously gotten taller and his hair looked better than ever. Even from far away she noticed the golden necklace around his neck, the necklace she had given him so many years ago.

Mirabel knitted her eyebrows in confusion once she noticed that Carina had stopped and looked to where she was staring at.

The curly haired girl hesitantly put her hand on Carina's shoulder who seemed to be frozen in place.

"You know if you stand here for any longer he'll probably see you." She said which made Carina snap out of her daydream.

"It's not like he'll recognise me anyway." She mumbled to which Mirabel raised her eyebrows.

"I wouldn't be too sure about that Carina."

Making it inside the house was a nightmare, though that was when Carina remembered she could easily just use her powers.

She walked right past Camilo who didn't see her due to the illusion she put up. Mirabel seemed quite fascinated by the gift since she hadn't seen it too many times.

A golden colour shimmered in her eyes momentarily before disappearing again.

Immediately as she entered the house, Carina made a beeline towards the tables which held loads of freshly made food.

No one seemed to notice the teenager who was anxiously walking around the house, holding a plate of cake in her hands.

This seems quite nice actually.

Mirabel had disappeared to somewhere which left Carina in a sour mood since the girl had promised to stay by her side until the ceremony began.

Now Carina was stood alone, the only company she had was from casita who kept nudging her foot with a tile.

"No I won't go talk to him." She muttered to the house which earned her a hard hit to her ankle.

Damn, screw you casita.

"Talk to who?" A sudden voice from behind Carina made her yelp in surprise.

"Oh uh- no one." Carina grinned at Dolores who raised her eyebrows and looked down at the teenager.

Carina was sure that Dolores knew who she was, she could literally hear anything. Dolores and Carina always got along and didn't bother each other, so it was to no surprise when Dolores just shrugged and went on to do god knows what.

First normal chat with a Madrigal member- check.

Carina had always been a professional at not being noticed though there was one person who would always notice her.

And that person was Camilo Madrigal.

Carina was around 99,9% sure that Camilo was lurking around, trying to find some guests he hadn't greeted yet.

Just as that thought entered her mind she saw him nearing her, he obviously hadn't seen her yet since he was too busy talking to an elder couple.

Carina was about to head the other way when she saw Alma Madrigal heading her way.

Shit, she'll definitely recognise me.

Carina was pretty much fucked since she could either risk getting caught by Camilo or Alma. The teenage girl was very sure that they'd both instantly recognise her.

Wait I can literally use my powers, I'm a fucking idiot.

Carina swished her hand, a glimmer of gold appearing before she made her way past Camilo who didn't notice her at all.

Though with Carina's luck, casita decided to open one of the storage room doors which Carina was walking by, which caused her illusion to break and fall straight into Camilo's arms who seemed quite surprised.

His eyes wandered down to the person he had just caught though he immediately froze once he locked eyes with her.

He'd recognise those eyes anywhere.

"Carina?"
