"I DON'T KNOW WHAT YOU'RE TALKING ABOUT."

Carina continued cleaning the cups as she ignored Maria's glare.

How the fuck does she know?

"Oh my god you're totally into that Camilo kid!" She exclaimed, noticing the slight blush on Carina's face.

"I'm not! We're just friends." The teenager snapped, earning a certain look from her co worker.

"Mhm sure Cara." Maria winked, cleaning the last table.

"Why are you bringing him up anyway? Don't you hate the Madrigals?" Carina voiced, remembering what the girl had told her ages ago.

"I don't hate them, I just don't like that they are practically ignoring our part of the town. They don't realise how hard it is to live like this." She sighed, dropping the rag and grabbing her bag.

Carina frowned, what Maria was saying was the absolute truth. The Madrigals never went near the darker parts of Encanto and practically pretended that it didn't exist.

"I'll lock up tonight, go home Maria." Carina smiled, picking up the keys from the counter.

"Oh no it's alright Cara, I don't want you walking home alone so late." Maria said, concern lacing her voice as she held her hand out for the key.

Maria always escorted Cara home after work, the older girl had insisted on doing so after one night when Carina wouldn't be left alone by this group of older boys.

"Maria it's fine, besides someone is picking me up today." She lied, grabbing her jacket and throwing it over her shoulders.

"You sure you'll be alright Cara?" Maria asked, looking at the younger girl who nodded instantly.

"I'll see you tomorrow!" Carina smiled, waving at the older girl who left hesitantly.

After cleaning up the rest of the mess Carina locked up and started walking home, her eyes starting to droop shut as a yawn slipped past her lips.
