"Hey" I said walking up to Shirley. Her blonde hair was shining in the bright sun. We were outside the university. She relaxing on the green lawn, my file with pictures of Mystic falls wide open. "Where'd you get that?" I questioned, kneeling down and pulling the file away.

"God Am, you are so possessive. It's just a file about boring blood sucking people who don't exist anymore" she checked her nails and leaned back on her elbows. I held the file tightly and sat cross legged opposite to her.

"It's not just any file Shirley. It's my assignment. A Project"

"A Job" Greg said coming up from behind Shirley and sitting close next to her. "Hey babe" he said to her and winked at me. He whispered something in her ear and she nodded saying, "you got it" . After he joined his friends and entered the building I turned to Shirley. "What was all that about?"

"Give me a break. And about the file, I am your partner Am. You have to share the work" she spat in anger and put on her sunglasses. Later that week, rumors were going around that Shirley and Greg hooked up but when I asked her she denied them and said I was so boring that I believed rumors just so that I had something to talk to people about. "Go to hell!" I remember cursing her and storming off but later at night I texted and apologized and she (after a lot of drama) forgave me. Again the same scene played in my head. The campus, the sun, the file, Greg. This time I saw things clearer. I read Greg's lips. He asked her if they were meeting that night? Why would she meet up with Greg and not tell me when I asked? Again the scene replayed. I felt like I was stuck in time. But this time, I stood up and shoved her for not telling me what Greg whispered and she fell to the ground and her head rolled away. That's when I jerked up and looked around, gasping for breathe.

"Amelia!" Elena yelled coming to my side with a hand towel. She began wiping my face. I was sweating. Not because it was hot.....because I realized what part I played in Shirley's death. "What is it?" Elena asked softly.

"I......I killed Shirley" I said looking down at my hands.

"No you didn't" Stefan said, strolling in. I didn't look up but I could feel him and Elena looking at me. "Amelia" Stefan said holding my hands. I still didn't look up. His hands were cold. "You are warm" he said alarmed. "Elena, call a doctor"

"I'm fine" I insisted. "I killed the girl who called me her best friend. She must be so upset"

"Amelia!" Stefan shouted and I jerked my head up. He sighed.

"Stefan, could you give us a sec?"

"I'll go get you something to eat" he said and turned around. He stooped at the door and glanced over his shoulder and said, "Please rest" and then he left. Elena sat in front of me, on the bed and smiled weakly.

"Why do you think you killed her?" she asked. I didn't speak. I replayed the dream over and over again in my head. I was missing something. I had seen it in my dream and I forgot already. I slapped myself in the face so hard, I screamed. "Amelia!" Elena screamed at the same time and shook me.

"Sorry" I whispered, holding her hands as a sign to stop shaking me.

"Don't ever do that again"

"I prefer blaming myself for Shirley's death than believing the person who saved my life last night did it" I said, staring at the ground.

"No...no. You don't know what you are saying" Elena began. She stood up and sat down again. I could tell she regretted asking me any questions now. I heard the door creek so I looked up and my eyes widened. I watched the most good looking guy I'd ever seen in my life, stand there and look at me in disappointment. I watched him as he said, "You think I killed her" .

"Damon" Elena said, and threw her hands on her head. "She didn't mean that. She's in shock. She is simply rambling"

"You are rambling" I pointed out to her. "I'm sorry. I better go" I threw the sheets aside and tried to stand. But I felt so weak and my body ached. When I stood, my legs wobbled. My knees hurt and I felt on the floor, face down. Elena ran to help me and helped settle in bed again. "Don't move" she warned pointing her index finger at me. "Damon" she said walking up to him.

"Forget it. Never save a human's life. They are ungrateful" he said , his gaze fixed on me.

"I didn't mean it, Damon. But I think your deadline just contracted" I said, rubbing my head.

"What do you mean?" Elena asked me but looked at Damon. My phone buzzed. I reached out and caught it before it fell off the table and unlocked it. "What does it say?" she asked, shifting her weight on the other leg.

"It's a text from my professor. He just told me the council is running out of time"

"Which means...." she said tapping her foot impatiently.

"We have two weeks from today to save your arses" I fell back and closed my eyes. Cursing myself mentally, knowing that  I just screwed the chance of saving them.

I rubbed my eyes and yawned. I looked around the room as I sat up but there was no one. No Elena, Stefan nor.....Damon. I switched on my phone and dialed the one person I knew who could save me right now from this stress. My body still ached. With great difficulty, I stood up and placed one hand on the wall, for support. I glanced and in the mirror and almost screamed. I looked horrible. My hair was messed. My clothes were dirty. I was wearing the same outfit I wore last night. They let me sleep on a clean bed in dirty clothes? Wow, they really have turned off their humanity. I would never let anyone dirty my clean sheets. There cuts on my face and arms and elbows. MY stomach hurt less since the time I first woke up which was...I checked the time on my wrist watch. 7 hours ago! Can a person sleep for this long? I remember when I woke up the room was dark . No light. But that was because the curtains were separated. Now, it seemed darker. I pulled aside the curtains and stared at the dark sky. I walked as fast as I could, phone in one hand and my shoes in the other, trying not to fall. I reached a room, where doors were open and I could hear voices. I tried not to breathe loudly and leaned against the wall.

"Damon, she didn't mean it" Elena said. I heard a loud thud! and then she spoke again, "Why are you frustrated?"

"Because Elena, I helped her. I shouldn't have. I should've let that guy killed her" I totally understood why he was so angry. I did accuse him of murder. Suddenly, black spots appeared. They were floating. I felt my self falling and I did. I collapsed to the ground and my shoes fell, but I held on tightly to my phone.

"Hello my favorite person!" a very cheerful voice said on the other line. My phone was on. I started sweating and my chest hurt. My body was hot. I could feel the heat. But I tried to keep my eyes open. I pulled my phone close to my mouth and whispered "Track Shirley's phone, Jack. Trace it"

"You got it" he said and there was click and my eyes closed.
