Saturday
"Can you come over?" Minho asked over the phone.
"I thought you usually hang out with Jisung on the weekends." Chan laughed.
"I do, or did I guess."
"Oh?"
"Yeah, that's kinda why I wanted you to come over."
"I can bring some food too if you want? We can eat and you can talk about whatever happened."
"Sounds good."
"Cool, see you in like 30."
"Alright." They hung up and Chan did as promised. He picked up a pizza and headed to his best friend's house. He didn't even bother knocking, he just walked into the house, knowing he was welcomed by Minho's parents any time of day.
"Oh, Chan, we haven't seen you in a while." Mrs. Lee says from the kitchen.
"Well, Minho's been busy with that little boyfriend of his."
"Oh, they're just the cutest, aren't they? Are they like that at school too?" Chan laughs and nods.
"All the time." He stands there for another second before heading to Minho's bedroom. He knocks and Minho opens the door for him. They both sit on the bed diving into the pizza immediately. Chan waited until Minho had a least one piece in his system before questioning him.
"So, what happened with you and Jisung?" Minho froze as if he wasn't expecting the question even though it was the whole reason Chan was there. He swallowed the bite of food that was in his mouth and began to explain. He explained how close the two of them had gotten, just for Jisung to randomly turn a complete 180, and then he ended with the conversation from the day prior. Instead of being as confused as Minho was, Chan started laughing to himself.
"I don't see how that's very funny. It pisses me off." Minho huffed, grabbing another slice out of the box.
"It's funny because I've known Jisung for years. He's so fucking obvious, oh my god." Chan smiled and flopped back onto the bed.
"That's him being obvious?? I've never been more confused in my life," Minho whined.
"Dude, he's in love with you." Minho immediately turned blood red.
"I- what? If he's in love with me, why would he cut me off?"
"That's why he's cutting you off. He's scared. Jisung's never been in a relationship before. He's never been in love before. He's only ever had crushes. Just give him time. I can guarantee he's scared shitless wondering how he can feel so strongly about one person. And he definitely assumes you don't like him."
"But I literally flirt with him all the time," Minho mumbled.
"You think that matters to him?" Chan laughed. "He's scared and he has like no confidence. He probably just thinks you're bored so you joke around with him. I mean, he didn't know that I used to like him, did he? And I liked him for years."
"Used to?" Minho perks up at the revelation. Chan smiles and nods. "What happened?"
"I met someone....." Chan replied, shyly.
"Who? Do I know them? What grade are they in? What do they look like? Are y'all a thing?" Minho got extremely excited, asking anything he could think of.
"Woahhh, slow your roll, buddy." They both laughed, finally having enough food and setting it off to the side.
"Well?"
"So, you don't know them. He's a sophomore, and we're not a thing. I just find him cute. We've talked a few times in the library, but that's it. We see each other in the hallways sometimes and when I smile at him, he always blushes. He's adorable.
"Tell me who it is," Minho complained.
"I don't want to give it away until it's official."
"C'mon man, I'm your best friend."
"I know, and that is exactly why I won't tell you. I know how you are. I don't need you hunting him down and scaring him off."
"I would never." Minho gasps, offended.
"You literally have before!" Chan exclaimed.
"One time! It was one time!" They both laughed.
"Anyways, enough about me. What're you gonna do about Jisung?"
"I don't fucking know man, why do you think I asked you?"
"Well, I've done all I can do. I told you why he's acting like this, what you do with that information is up to you."
"I don't want to like force him to hang out with me, but at the same time, I don't wanna lose this opportunity."
"You like him too, right?" Minho had never admitted it out loud, but it felt right. He just nodded, biting his bottom lip filled with anxiety. "Then, it's as simple as that. You like each other so do something about it."
"How sure are you that that's why he's like this? What if it's the complete opposite?"
"Trust me, it's not. He is 1000% into you."
"Okay, I'm gonna trust you. Or at least try." Minho sighed and flopped down onto the bed next to Chan. "Thank you."
"Anytime."
"So, can you at least tell me his name?" Minho whispered.
"Minho," Chan griped, smacking him with a pillow.
