Why can't good things last forever? :(

For those of you who stayed until the very very end, thank you. You guys brought this story to life just as much as I did and I can't thank you enough for being a part of this journey. BTC taught me so many life lessons and has shown me that anything is possible. Throughout all the anxiety and happiness, you guys have always stuck around! Either if it was with Flip, Ronnie, Charlie, or my one shots!!

I can't wait for you guys to see what I have planned for Charlie and for other future works!! Just remember, Dal loves you.

P.S. trigger/content warnings for this chapter are breeding kink, "mama", daddy but also daddy kink, talk of pregnancy, and domestic Flip

------------------------

A lot happened in the last five years.

While pregnant with your first child, you knew you needed something different. The stress levels of being a nurse were already high but to be working in the emergency room too? You knew you needed a change of pace.

Flip, not being the type you expected, was constantly worried while you were pregnant. He always thought that you were on your feet for too long, wishing you would move to a part-time position. He would make sure to leave work before you, having dinner ready for you as soon as you walked through the door. After you had a tummy full of food and clean from a hot shower, he would rub your feet while you two enjoyed a movie on the couch.

As your belly grew over those nine months, Flip did a lot for the family.

When you weren't even showing yet, he baby-proofed the entire house. After weeks of doing research, he bought a new car that would be suitable for your upcoming family life. Each night that you two went to bed, he would hold you close to him in bed while he ran his hand back and forth over your belly. Sometimes, he would even lay his head against it, hoping that whoever was in there would like him.

Another thing he did was quit smoking. Flip always knew how bad it was that he smoked like a chimney but every time he tried to quit, he would find himself buying another pack. This time was different now, knowing that he wanted as much time with you and the little Zimmerman as he could.

A few months later, Austin Zimmerman was born on December 13th, making you and Flip parents.

Over the next five years, Flip was promoted to sergeant that way he can have shorter days and spend more time with you and your son. You continued working at the bedside until recently, thinking it was time for a career change.

After many discussions with Flip, you decided to go back to school in the new year. Austin was old enough and with Flip having a new and better job, you decided that you didn't want to wait any longer.

Which brings you to Christmas Eve night.

While Austin was sound asleep in his bed, you and Flip were downstairs in the living room. It was your mission to secretly wrap each gift before Christmas morning. Flip was there for moral support, not knowing how to properly wrap a gift. The two of you made it into an exciting evening, though.

The lights hanging around the living room shined down on you two, while the metal of the menorah shined beside the window. Flip poured some wine for you two while he watched you wrap the many gifts lying on the floor.

You were trying to channel Santa's energy, checking off the gifts you had for people on your list.

There were a handful of gifts that were sitting in the car and waiting to be transported to your mom's house. With Ron proposing next week, the only gift you had for him and Jen was to organize the party. The cookies you and Austin made and left by the fireplace were eaten by a very hungry Flip, leaving evidence behind that Santa came and visited the Zimmerman's.
