–Teddy POV–

"Because of these... unfortunate, circumstances, Hogsmeade trips scheduled for the remainder of the year have been canceled until further notice." A wave of moans and groans grew and echoed across the Great Hall. Bonnie herself snapped her fingers with a grimace, commenting "aw, man."

"Well, that doesn't affect me much, does it. It sucks that first and second years aren't allowed to Hogsmeade anyway." I turned to glance at Scorpius, acknowledging his comment.

"It also means the professors will take advantage of us not missing classes to schedule more tests," said Luca with a roll of his eyes, before dramatically throwing his head down to the table with a groan.

"Is nobody else worried about why McGonagall canceled the rest of the year's Hogsmeade trips? Dementors! She said there was an attack literally last night. What if that were one of us?!"

"Gabe, it's fine," Wendy said, organizing a set of papers in front of him. "The dementors can't possibly be attacking students."

"They attacked Uncle Harry plenty of times," I said with a shrug. "I wouldn't completely dismiss it."

"He's Harry bloody Potter." Wendy enunciated each part of that clearly. "He nearly died every single year he was here. He's the saviour! I wouldn't be surprised if he was actually involved in yesterday's attack too," he snorted. I reached across the table to shove him lightly.

"Don't joke like that."

"Ay, Ted. It's fine," continued Gabriel.

"Yeah," said Luca. "I doubt he meant it in any bad way." Luca patted my shoulder, before resting his hand on it. I looked at him and he smiled. "Why so uptight recently?"

"It's fine..." I mumbled, feeling my face grow slightly red. Butterflies erupted in my stomach and the spot on my shoulder he was touching felt oddly warm. "Just stressed," I confessed. "Uncle Harry's been, off. All winter break. I can't quite describe it." Luca gave my shoulder a gentle squeeze before removing his hand. It felt as though my shoulder was dipped in ice water, which made my face grow even redder.

"Teddy, your hair just turned pink," commented Scorpius, and suddenly whatever I was feeling turned to immediate embarrassment as I made my hair revert back to its teal. Observant as ever, Scorpius.

The rest of breakfast went with further discussion of Dementors and canceled Hogsmeade, with Bonnie and Wendy remarking "At least quidditch is still on," before engaging in what might have been the loudest high-five the Great Hall had witnessed.  During Potions I bumped into Luca on the way to the ingredients cabinets, resulting in a spill of porcupine quills, and our hands brushed while we went to pick them up, causing my stomach to do funny flips and my face to go red again.

"Oh, just a few more quills," His hand had been moving in slow motion, almost, yet I reached out at the same time to sweep up the last of the quills. It felt like small dancing flames had erupted across my hand and up my arm, giving me gooseflesh.

It's almost as though I can't stay calm around him anymore. So, later, when Scorpius asked if he could spend his free period with me, I said yes, and led us to a hidden little alcove where we could speak without being interrupted. Then, I cast a Muffliato around us for good measure.

"This is a new spot," he commented. "We aren't going to the trees out in the courtyard this time?"

"Actually, Scor... I wanted to ask you something."

"Oh? What's going on?"

I sucked in a breath, finding myself actually grateful that Scorpius was always looking for me between every single class now because I felt I was running out of options on who to talk to about this.
