Check-In With Aurelia

"No you've actually got to stop." I stare eyebrows raised, with an expression as serious as I can muster to the girl beside me, despite an inability to catch her eye; the hands currently covering her face prevent that. Aurelia's shoulders spasm in silent laughter, and I have to cover my own mouth to stop myself from giggling at her struggles. Today is Friday. The day had finally come where I share a lesson with my Slytherin dorm friend, but the lively girl had caught on to my sense of humor tremendously well, and far too early, due to our little late night conversations over the span of the past few nights. Not a very good asset for productive learning. Shaky hands leave the face of Aurelia, and the tears streaming down her face nearly make me lose it. She shakily looks forward to feign concentration on the intricately drawn diagram of a cup, that I'm sure Professor McGonagall is talking us through incredibly well. A small unstable whisper leaves the lips of Aurelia, and I shake my head in warning that I will, whether I mean to or not, snake us both out if she keeps this joke going any longer. "J-just imagine the look of shock on his face as he falls-"

I dip my head as a loud snicker falls out of my mouth, and being sat at a desk on the back row can't help us now. The class goes oddly silent, and I presume that McGonagall decided to take a break from her very informative sentence. A disappointed sigh. "As much as I wish it were the case, I'm afraid I can't buy that your enthusiasm for transfiguration lead you and Miss Devonshire to tears of laughter, Miss Rose."

I raise my head from the darkness and safety of my arms to meet the lecturing stare of our teacher, before my eyes flit down to the faces of the familiar students in front of me, grinning in amusement, and it takes some serious willpower not to break into a smile. "I'm sorry Miss, you've got my full attention now." I apologise politely, and after a few seconds more to give me the you're-skating-on-thin-ice look, the lesson resumes. "I can't stand you." I comment with a small smile.
"You love me really."
"Yeah, yeah."

"I've got a question." Aurelia suddenly perks up, after finishing her notes on the form of Transfiguration that, of course, Namjoon demonstrated to the class perfectly. "Yeah?" I reply, putting down my black quill, too writing my last line of description. Propping a hand below her face, she nods her head towards the row in front of us, where my friends have their heads lowered, having mastered the art of looking like they are heavily interested in their notes while talking about whatever they want. Except Yoongi, who openly thwacks a book on Taehyung's head the very second I glance over. "Be real, which ones do you find fit?" she asks with a knowing smile. "Aurelia!" My head whips round to her, and with a finger jab in their direction, mouth 'they're right there,' to which she mouths back 'I know, dumbass.' I sigh, and shrug back into my chair, looking at her from my lowered posture. To say I was not expecting that question was an understatement. Firstly, I'm aware hanging out with a group of seven boys all day every day will make people think things. But it's only been five days, and in which, nothing particularly out of the ordinary has occurred. Well, not in terms of romance. And secondly, it's not even something I've heavily thought about anyway; they've been my safety net, and I've been grateful for that. To expect or think of anything else right now was never on my radar.

"Uhh, well I mean it's clear they are all good looking..." I begin with a grimace, watching the smile on my companion's face grow wider. "Man, I haven't had enough time to think about these things," I flail, but Aurelia is not having it, pressing me with pleads and wide eyes that make me fold. "..I have a feeling you do this to people often."
"Only the ones that interest me," she replies with a devious grin.

"Well, I mean, Namjoon is a no." I disclose, looking forwards to the kind man tapping his leg to a rhythm I'm almost sure he figured out himself; he always struck me as a deep and wisened mind. Rae's mouth gapes, and I'm quick to explain myself. "He's been a bit of a role model for me so far, a sensible head to talk to when you need to. And an exchange we had the other day just solidified his place in my mind as a good, loyal brotherly figure. Don't get me wrong, his looks are undeniable, but I just don't get anything romantic between us." "I get you," Aurelia comments briefly prompting me to keep talking. "Can't judge with Jin. He makes me laugh, and he has great charisma, but we don't have that more personal, platonic or romantic, connection yet." "Uhhh, I'm not sure either way with Jungkook. We're good friends, he's a lovely person. Hard to tell, but nothing right now." I comment, thinking back to our memorable exchanges this past week. "I.." Not really wanting to move on to the boy poised next to Jungkoook, fiddling with his nails in subdued fixation, I talk about the next desk. "Yoongi is slightly intimidating," I giggle, the boy's spontaneous and wild actions both entertaining and unrelatable to my people pleasing mind. "once you look past the brash actions though, you get so much depth of personality. He isn't one sided. But we haven't really had enough one to one talk for me to figure out whether he's just a friend or not, you feel me?" A nod from Rae, followed by a huff. "Girl, this was NOT the question." She monotonously says. "Who DO you have a crush on?" I slowly look around the high-ceiling room; pillars of white, beautiful brackets, and furniture details in varying shades of wood to refresh my mind from the claustrophobic conversation subject.

"There's two." I mutter. I feel a light jab at my ribs, so I brush Aurelia's elbow away while laughing, ignoring the slight heat on the tips of my ears. "You've gotta tell me right now." She demands, and I cover my face. "I cant believe you've done this,"
"It's my Slytherin charm," She says with a dazzle, flicking a curly brown lock of hair off her shoulder to exemplify her point.
"You're forgetting I'm in your damn house too!" I point out, and she pauses.
"Well we all know you've got charm! Even the way you walk is cooler than I am! Like, it's this sway you've got-" I roll my eyes, and flick her forehead. "Don't undermine yourself even as a joke, young missy."

"Okay students! I trust by now both sides of the book page have been transcribed onto your parchment, and thanks to Mr Namjoon's wonderful demonstration, it shouldn't have been too difficult to condense the steps of the spell. You may leave once you are ready." With a heelturn, Miss McGonagall strides over to her desk, and assumes her usual position, writing into some kind of log. "Hold on.." my eyes narrow, going over her words. With a tentative finger, I flick over the page of the book we've been getting our notes from. "There's another side of the page?!"

A/N:
Just a mini-chapter to keep y'all entertained while I plan out the next few chapters. Personally, I can't wait for the party at the lake. Oh, well why is that Kiki, you may ask?
Why, what a good question.

No reason :))
