I anxiously walk towards the Hogwarts Express, pushing my heavy luggage along with me. I'm trying to suppress the butterflies in my stomach, but I can't help but feel nervous. After all, I've never heard of someone starting at Hogwarts in the fourth year before.
As I gaze at last-minute people quickly reuniting with their friends, I wonder how I'm possibly going to make friends when everyone is already so settled. Hell, I'll be lucky if I can find a group of people who want to sit with me on the train. I've always been a pretty sociable person and it's never been particularly difficult for me to make friends, but I've gotta say, making friends in a school of magic will be a different experience altogether, not to mention I have absolutely no idea what I'm doing. I heave my bags into the luggage section of the train, before heading on board. I'm fairly late, so I had to change into my robes before arriving at the station.
I walk down the narrow isles looking for a compartment to sit in, and I can't help but feel that choosing the right place to sit will determine what friendship group I enter at Hogwarts, and probably massively determine how much I'll get out of my experience here. Or maybe I'm just over speculating.
I'm busy looking for somewhere to sit when suddenly I feel someone barge straight past me. I quickly spin around to look at who rushed into me, and find a boy halting to a stop. I was prepared for him to keep walking, but I wasn't prepared for him to actually stop and turn around. And I was even less prepared for how he'd look once he turned around.
As he faced me, I couldn't help but admire his features. Beautiful clear skin, cute nose, bright eyes that shine even through the layer of hair that falls halfway-
I snap out of my trance when I hear him talk to me. "Oh my god I'm so sorry, are you okay?" he asks me in a surprisingly deeper voice than I imagined.
"Um, yeah, I'm fine," I respond with a smile, "Thanks for stopping to apologise, a lot of people would have just kept going, I appreciate it." I try to say in a casual tone even though inside I'm literally dying. His mouth forms a cute, boxy smile. I die a little more. "No worries, it's what any decent person would do." He glanced down at my uniform, and then looked back at me with a quizzical look. "How come your tie doesn't have a house? You don't look like a first year to me." Ah. I should probably have realised someone was bound to ask me that at some point.
"Oh, um, I'm actually joining Hogwarts in my fourth year."
He gave me a puzzled yet fascinated expression.
"How come?" He asked politely.
I prepare to answer, but before I can speak I'm interrupted by the whistle of the train driver, signalling our soon departure. "Ah, better get to my compartment before the train heads off. Um, speaking of which, do you have anyone to sit with? Seeing as your starting in your fourth year, I figured it might be difficult to find a seat," he enquired.
Damn, where am I gonna go?
"No actually," I look down at the floor, downcast. How am I ever going to fit in at Hogwarts if I can't even find someone to sit next to on the train? The boy cutely tilted his head to look at me. "Hey, don't look so worried! I was gonna offer for you to come at sit with me and my friends, you seem like a nice person, and I think the others will get along with you." I look up with a smile.
"Really? That'd be okay? Thank you so much," I give a smile of relief.
"Of course, it's no problem. But we might want to hurry up, because the train's gonna leave any second."
As we start walking in the direction of the compartment, I realise we don't know each other's names.
"By the way, what's your name?" I ask the boy. He looks at me and smiles.
"Kim Taehyung. You?"
"Ashlyn Rose."
"Nice to meet you, Ashlyn," he said with a smile. How does a human look so perfect when simply smiling, I'm not sure, but he manages it. Taehyung slows to a stop, so I presume we're at the right compartment. He looks at me, and nods to the left. "We're in this one. I have friends in the other compartment too though, as there are seven people in my main circle of friends." He slides the door open, and gestures for me to go in. "Ladies first."I walk into the compartment and I swear down I could have had a heart attack at the sudden noise I was greeted with. As soon as I stepped into the compartment, I was met with a loud bang, which of course, frightened me out of my skin, causing me to shriek. Once I recovered from the shock, I took in what I was seeing. There was a boy in front of me holding his wand wearing a confused yet shocked expression, probably much mimicking my own, but with less fear of death in the mix. "Oh my god, I'm so sorry! Are you okay?" That's not the first time I've heard that today. "Um, yeah, I'm fine." And that's not the first time I've had to say that today. The ebony haired boy in front of me was about to say something else when Taehyung, who had been standing in the doorframe, walked into the compartment. "I've gotta say, Ashlyn, the introductions we've given you so far are top notch." He said with a laugh. The boy in front of me rubs the back of his neck. "Yeah, that was meant to have been for Taehyung.." I hear a laugh from someone else in the compartment. I look to my right to see a boy with silver hair chuckling while leaning his head against his hand, which is propped up on the window.
"Well, that wasn't supposed to happen."
"Guys, this is Ashlyn. She's new to Hogwarts, and didn't have anywhere to sit so I figured she could sit with us." Taehyung told the two boys.
The ebony haired boy tucked his wand into his pocket and gave me a smile, and damn, it's looks just as perfect as Taehyung's. Is there some kind of rule about Hogwarts that you have to look like a freaking god to enter or something? Because if so I should be packing my bags right now.
"I don't see why that'll be a problem," he offered his hand to me, and I shook it. "I'm Jungkook, and this is Jimin, he said with a nod in the silver haired boy's direction. The boy, who I now know to be Jimin, gave Jungkook an offended look behind his back. "Hey! I was gonna introduce myself!" He said with a pout. I almost laugh at his cuteness, and sit down on the left side of the compartment. Taehyung sits down next to me, and Jungkook takes his seat beside Jimin."So first year, huh? What school did you go to before here?"
"Please don't say Beauxbatons. Those girls are real bitc-"
"Jimin!" Taehyung interrupts. "Just because three girls you asked out from Beauxbatons rejected you, it doesn't make them all bitches."
"Well actual-"
"Jimin can we resume our conversation?" Jungkook sighs.
"Fine." He huffed.
"As we were saying, previous school?" I tense. Well, here goes nothing.
"Um... I went to a muggle school.." I grimaced. At that moment, everyone stared at me in absolute shock.A/N
I felt like making one of these types of AU stories, so I did. I know there are a lot of Harry Potter alternate universe books, but it seemed like a lot of fun x
