Sam and Dean stayed back because Dean's father had told them not to get any close to the body. Sam had never expected something like this to happen and the fact that Mark had said he was going to have someone look into it made Sam realize that since he and Dean found the body it would make sense that they should attempt to figure out what's going on.

"No absolutely not," Dean said instantly. "Sam, when my dad says to steer clear of this right now until training is complete he means it,"

"But Dean, a little girl, just died and we have no idea what killed her," Sam responded. "Just let me try please, I can't let anyone else get hurt," he continued. "Claire had a family and now they have to be told that she's dead,"

"Sam, even if we could, we have no idea what we're dealing with," Dean answered. "Unless you're given the okay, you can't intervene,"

"But if I don't, more people could die," Sam argued. "I know it's against the rules and you think I can't do it, but trust me losing someone like this is terrible," he continued. "I should know,"

"And if you do, you could get hurt," Dean attempted to get his point across but seeing as how Sam had been determined to solve this case, he couldn't fight against it. "Fine, but I'm going to do this with you, just to make sure you don't get hurt," Sam blinked at him and wondered if Dean was sick or something. Just this morning they were arguing and now they were best friends?

"Why I thought you didn't like me?" Sam asked, raising his eyebrow. "Are you sick?"

"I'm not sick," Dean answered. "I'm just...making sure you don't get hurt," Dean couldn't believe what he had been hearing, he had never felt like he wanted to protect any of the civilians but Sam was a different story it was like they were linked to each other. "Don't get used to it, I'm only doing this so I don't get in trouble," Sam didn't quite believe what Dean's last words were but played it off like he did. Now came the tricky part while waiting for the news to spread around the school.

"Dean what are we going to tell Claire's father?" Sam asked. He didn't really know Claire but she seemed like a sweet girl, she was innocent and hadn't even been on her first hunt yet.

"I'm not the one who tells the parents," Dean said. "My father does that and let's just say, it's not going to be pretty, the last time this happened was years ago, it was in an older part of the academy," Dean explained. "Come on, let's go back to the school's library. There are archives there that can help us," Dean didn't let Sam say anything as he turned and went back to the library. Dean hoped that something like this wouldn't happen and worried that it might be a repeat of history. Sam followed him without question and wondered if he was going to make it out of this hunt alive. He had his worries but kept them to himself. Dean was clearly an expert as he knew exactly what book to look through and Sam watched in amazement. Dean didn't say much during his research, he was looking for a bite mark that matched the one he saw. But so far no creature seemed to match, the bites were all too big.

"Any luck?" Sam asked. Dean shook his head and threw the book he was reading on the ground. "Okay, so that's a no,"

"Yes Sam," Dean said sarcastically, "That is a no, none of these books have anything to do with what we're dealing with," he continued. "Are you just going to stand there or are you..."

"Going to check the shelves? Yes, I'm going, you don't need to tell me twice," Sam said.

"How did you know I was going to say that?" Dean questioned.

"I don't know," Sam answered. "It's like your reading my mind or something," Sam walked away from Dean after that and started searching the shelves until he stumbled across an empty part of the bookshelf with a missing book, it had been in the mythology and folklore section. That's weird. Sam thought.

"What's weird?" Dean called over thinking that Sam was talking to him. "Sam, did you find something?"

"Come and see," Sam responded as Dean got up from the table and made his way over to Sam. "Do you see anything different?" Sam asked. Dean examined the shelf for a second until his eyes landed on what Sam had been talking about.

"There's a book missing," Dean answered.

"Right.. But the question is, what kind of book and where did it disappear to?" Sam questioned. "Hang on the book was taken recently," he continued. Dean wondered how Sam could possibly know that since every shelf in the library looked the same. "There's no dust here meaning someone came in and took it not long ago," Sam answered as if he were reading Dean's thoughts.

"How did you know what I was thinking?" Dean asked. "Nevermind that there's a chance that the person who took it could still be here," he continued. Dean looked around for any sign as to who could have been here, but looking for a clue in a dusty library was like looking for a needle in a haystack. "Okay, Sherlock Holmes, any idea how we can find any more evidence?" Dean asked.

"I'm no Sherlock Holmes man," Sam laughed. "And I actually might have one," he continued. "It may not work but I noticed there were fingerprints on the shelf, I can identify them, we will have a better shot at catching who took it,"

"You are one strange cookie," Dean said. "You know that? While you're picking up your fingerprints, I have a better idea," he continued. "This school is old before my dad renovated it, no one really bothered to check this place out, but I know there are some secret passageways around here we just need to find it,"

"I'm uncertain if I should thank you, but lead the way I guess," Sam answered. Even though he planned to follow Dean, he still took the evidence using a brush and plastic, figuring it would be helpful later. They walked out of the library, Dean led Sam to a hang-out room where he and his friends used to spend time away from all of their studies. They arrived and made sure that no one was around.

"Here we are, search everywhere Sam," Dean said. "There's got to be a secret passageway around here somewhere," he continued "All the old parts of the building connect to the oldest part of the campus," Sam nodded his head as the two of them started searching, Sam had checked everything and anything, Dean had walked over to the fireplace and felt around for a hatch or something until he pulled on a lever the back of the fireplace slid open revealing a wooden door frame which was big enough for a human to walk through. "Hey, Sam! I think I found what we're looking for," Sam walked over to the wooden door in surprise. He was expecting the secret room to be behind a wall and really small, but it looks like he was wrong.

"I don't even know what to say nor do I know what's going to be behind the door," Sam answered. He breathed heavily a few times as his nerves were starting to get to him. "I'm making the decision to trust you with my life, don't make me regret it,"

"Go ahead and step through," Dean said pushing Sam forward as soon as he saw the cobwebs. "I can um..wait for you out here make sure no one follows you." Sam gave him a look and realized that Dean was afraid of spiders. He could see the hidden fear in Dean's eyes when he looked at the cobwebs.

"What's wrong, are you scared?" Sam asked with a smile.

"I'm not afraid... But there are well... Cobwebs and cobwebs usually mean.." Dean didn't want to say the last word so he tried his best not to say it despite the fact that Sam knew what he was going to say. Spiders... Sam burst into a fit of laughter once he realized what Dean was trying to hide.

"No freaking way, you're afraid of a tiny eight-legged creature," Sam laughed. He never would expect someone like Dean to be afraid of a spider, he hunted supernatural creatures and something tiny like that scared him. "Oh that is good," he continued. "Come on I'm sure not all of them are venomous," Sam pulled Dean inside the door and the door closed behind them.
