The brothers were on their way back when they felt the bond with their mother shatter. "Sam, do you feel that?" Dean asked, hoping he was wrong. Because it felt like their mother had just been killed.
"Mom," Sam answered. "Drive faster, Dean!" He exclaimed through tears. Sam couldn't explain how he knew that his mother's very life was in danger, but he could feel it in his gut. And going by his brother's question, Sam knew that Dean felt the same thing. The two of them rushed back to their mother's office only to find that they were too late. Dean managed to discover Mary's blood corpse hidden away in the closet.
"Sam I found her," was all Dean could say. Sam ran over to Dean and saw that their mother had been killed but from the looks of it she had died of a stab wound and the bite was a plus. Sam tried his best to keep from crying, he and Dean had just found her and now she was gone for good. "That's it, screw the stupid ball, we're going to find whoever did that and put a stop to them," he exclaimed and stormed out of the room, it was rare that Dean cried and now he was already feeling it. He regretted ever storming out on her, he should have been grateful now there was no way to bring her back. Sam called in the body where their mother's corpse had been taken away and cremated. Sam felt the same way, now this time it was personal, the ball was more than just celebrating it was now time to figure out who killed their mother. Three weeks later the masquerade ball had already started but Dean was staying in the bathroom since he hated what he was wearing.
"Dude, can you hurry up? We have to get to that ball!" Sam exclaimed.
"Sam I look ridiculous," Dean responded.
"Come on it couldn't be that bad!" Sam answered as the door to the bathroom unlocked and Dean stepped out.
"How do people wear this thing?" Dean said. "It's so uncomfortable,"
"Stop complaining, look we need to go over the plan," Sam responded.
"Which is what exactly?" Dean questioned.
"Whoever has been doing the summoning, must be present at the ball," Sam explained. "Which means they'll blend in," he continued. "We have to get close to each person and keep an eye out, plus I have my suspicions on who it might be," he kept going. "All I know is that it involves Carmen,"
"Screw that bitch, she's ruined my life now let's go so I can take this damn mask off, " Dean commented. He hated that the mask was tight and itchy. If he had his way, they would have ditched the masks altogether. The two left their room and made their way to the ballroom. The minute they arrived at the ballroom they saw all the students who were in fact enjoying themselves and dancing. Dean was surprised that no one actually felt the need to stop the school, hell, everyone seemed to forget that there were already two deaths on the campus and not a single one cared. "Alright let's get this over with," Dean said. "How will we know which one is our perpetrator?"
"Keep this close, " Sam reminded him, pointing to his earpiece. The two split up looking for Carmen or any person that matched the DNA sample and was trying to make a quick exit. The problem was everyone was wearing a mask so no one looked like themselves. "See anything?" Sam asked through his earpiece. "Remember we are looking for a blonde, "
"Yeah like that's going to be easy," Dean responded into the earpiece as he walked onto the floor, suddenly, a slow dance started playing Causing Dean's stomach to drop. "Sam, it's a slow song," Sam was about to answer when someone grabbed him.
"Nice mask," she flirted. The woman was dressed in a gold dress and had a red mask covering her face. Unknown to Sam, the woman was Lilith. "Dance with me,"
"I don't even know you, and I have a girlfriend," Sam responded. "I think I found her," he managed to whisper to his brother. "She's dressed like a queen," Dean searched and saw who Sam had been dancing with and realization had dawned on him.
"Sammy, look alive, that's our teacher," Dean answered. "Lilith! I'm coming your way," Dean said, only for Carmen to grab Dean's hand and attempted to get him on the dance floor. "Sam Carmen and Lilith are working together," Dean whispered "A little help,"
"A little busy, " Sam whispered back. Lilith wouldn't stop touching his mask or suit, so he couldn't go anywhere.
"Dean pay attention to me and dance," Carmen said, reaching for his mask. "I like the white color," she continued, grabbing his earpiece.
"Hey! Get off!" Dean exclaimed and pushed Carmen away from him. "I should have guessed that you were in on this!"
"What do you mean?" Carmen asked playing dumb, her charm didn't seem to be working on him this time. "I just want you to love me,"
"Fuck that, you killed my mother!" Dean exclaimed. "You're going to regret it!" Lilith saw her chance and shoved Sam into one of the nearby snack tables and took off with Carmen toward one of the secret entrances. Sam and Dean met up with each other and followed the two women as they made a break for it. Lilith removed her mask and used her powers to slow them down.
"Didn't your mother ever tell you not to sneak up on a lady?" She mocked letting her eyes flash white. "Then again you humans were always flawed," Even though Lilith had thought she got the upper hand, suddenly, Sam and Dean began to break through from her bound, briefly glowing gold until they broke through. "What?!"
"Auntie! Come on!" Carmen yelled as she grabbed her aunt by the arm and dragged her into the secret entrance. While Sam and Dean didn't know how they did that, they didn't have time to question it as they followed into the entrance after. They removed their masks and saw that Carmen and Lilith had separated.
"Sammy go after Carmen," Dean said. "I'm going after Lilith,"
"But we're supposed to do this together," Sam argued. He didn't like the idea of them splitting up when they were stronger together. Despite Dean wanting to argue, his brother had a point, Carmen's main purpose was to separate them which meant she wasn't much of a threat.
"You have a point," Dean said quickly. "Fine, let's go find Lilith." He continued "but we don't know which way she went!"
"Hang on, " Sam said, closing his eyes. At first, Dean thought his brother was tired but he quickly realized that Sam was listening. Sam eventually was able to pick up on the sound of Lilith's heels. " This way, " he continued, pointing to the right entrance. "I can hear her, "
"Impressive," Dean said as the brothers quickly turned and took off down the right entrance. "Come on I have an idea,"
