The lights went out.
And the world fell silent.
Well, just my street.
blackout.
But it feels like
the world has stopped turning
when there's no background noise.
Halted, mid-orbit,
the moon looks brighter than ever
and easier to spot
being the only light source.
While everyone around me
went into an
apocalypse-like mentality,
I felt more at peace
than I have in a while.
Because with everyone left
sitting in quiet darkness
with their own minds
and limited resources,
although only for an hour or so,
they had a glimpse
at what it feels like
to be disconnected.
Shut off from the rest of the world.
For everything to stop turning.
and be still.
blackout.
to feel so small,
as one person,
fading into the shadows,
overshone by big faraway lights.
to feel so
utterly
alone.
and so powerless.
