Bucky's voice was gravelly and breathy, smile smaller as a result of the forthright question he had just asked. Melora watched him again, trying to see if he was jesting, but then gleefully nodded. His smile widened once more as he leaned down and carefully connected their lips.

Every muscle in her body relaxed as one of his hands landed on her waist, and the other slid to the back of her neck, pulling her closer. She felt the heat spread through her bones while the noises around them faded, and for the first time since she came here, a feeling of home washed over her.

Bucky slowly pulled away from her, leaving her with the lingering feeling of his lips still gently gracing her skin. She had thought of his kiss to be more rough or forceful, but all she found was gentle sweetness and the promise of realness.

Melora could feel her eyes glowing, and his were much the same, content with simply looking at her. She felt a hand on her back, wanting her attention while she was barely able to peel her eyes off of the man in front of her.

"Yes?" Melora said, wanting to hear from the voice whether it was important or not.

"I don't know where Steve went," Bonnie's voice sounded, and she was looking uncomfortable. "I was just telling him a story... but I think I might just head home anyway."

"I'm sorry about that, Bonnie," Bucky said, grimace on his face as he started looking around them to see if he could catch a glimpse of Steve.

"Can you get home safe on your own?" Melora asked the other woman who confidently nodded.

"Oh, don't worry, it's not too far from here," she smiled, becoming somewhat knowing as she leaned closer and whispered. "Hope you two have fun." A little giggle left her, and Melora felt her cheeks heating up as the woman stepped away, sending them a small wave.

"Bye," Bonnie called out, and the two of them sent her a wave as well.

"I think I know where he is," Bucky sighed and let his hand fall from her waist, gripping her hand once again. "Come on."

He was walking a little quicker, clearly nervous about his friend. Melora was keeping her eyes and ears open in case she would spot him, but Bucky did have a clear place in mind as he weaved through the various crowds of people.

They were soon standing in front of a US army recruitment centre. He hopped up the stairs, her following close by as the two of them strode inside, and they quickly found Steve standing on some sort of plate in front of a picture.

"Stay here," Bucky said, leaning down to kiss the side of her head and squeezing her hand. Within seconds, her body was heating up once again. Melora leaned up against the wall close by as Bucky stepped towards his friend.

"Come on, you're missing the point of a double date," he said, lightly pushing Steve's shoulder.

"You go ahead," Steve nodded towards her, sending her a forced smile. "I'll catch up with you." Bucky let out another sigh, turning to face Steve instead, and now that she could not read their lips it was harder to catch every word they were saying.

"You're really going to do this again?" Bucky asked while she closed her eyes to focus on their voices.

"Well, it's a fair. I'm gonna try my luck," Steve dismissively said.

"As who? Steve from Ohio?" Bucky asked, trying to make his friend stop. "They'll catch you. Or worse, they'll actually take you."

"Look, I know you don't think I can do this," Steve said, but it did not seem like it was what Bucky was attempting to say at all.
