Melora woke up the next morning to Bucky with his arms wrapped tightly around her, one hand twirling a lock of her hair around his fingers, and she looked up at him with a smile, getting one in return immediately.
"Are you ready to leave?" She asked, tracing small circles on his back with the tip of her fingers and he nodded.
"I got everything packed already," he sighed deeply, and she leaned closer to kiss his chest, feeling him chuckle because of it.
"No need to worry, I will be with you every step of the way," she said, smiling up at him again and slowly pulling away. They did have to leave rather early, after all.
"I still don't get how you're planning to do that – or why," Bucky said, raising himself onto his elbows and watching her as she got out of the bed, still completely naked. She went over to his dresser, beginning to pull out some of the clothes he was planning on leaving behind.
Melora had watched him pack rather intensely, and she knew exactly how he was packing – like someone who was not planning on returning, and that irked her. He would be fine; she would make sure of it.
She truly did not understand where her eagerness came from, but it was the only thing in her life that felt right as everything else was so, so wrong. For now, being around him calmed her down, and she was able to not lose her mind.
"I have a few tricks up my sleeve," she said, pulling one of his old shirts over her head along with a pair of his pants.
"And you're sure you're not just gonna get held back?" He asked, sitting up in the bed, sheets only just covering him, and he ran a hand through his hair.
"I do not mind fighting my way over there," she smiled, honestly quite excited by the prospect of battle, at least the surface of it.
"Why do you want to go over there so badly?" He asked standing up and putting a hand on her shoulder.
"Only paying you back for giving me a place to stay – and feeding me," she said, glancing to his hand and feeling his lips graze her neck while watching his hands help her button up the shirt.
"You should stay," he sighed deeply, finishing the last button. "Find another kind man."
"Now, Bucky, where would the fun in that be?" She asked, turning around and cupping his face.
"Weren't you the one telling me about how terrible war is just last night?" He asked, gripping her waist and pulling her closer.
"Yes," she smirked, "but there was a man who got my mind onto other things."
"Is that so?" He asked, smirk wide on his lips, and she barely got to nod before he leaned down and attached their lips, feverishly kissing her as she clutched his neck.
"We should be going, don't want to be late," she smiled against his lips, but he simply hummed in agreement, continuing to kiss her. "Buck." A laugh left her as she gently pushed him away, and he had a jokingly offended look on his face.
"Guess I just can't help myself," he said, turning his hands up in defence and walking back to put his clothes on.
There was not much for Melora to pack, she had no possessions except for the dress and heels she had bought along with the clothes she wore when she arrived. Those were put in a sack, and even if she would not need them, there was no use in leaving them behind.
She had picked up one of Bucky's hats as well and had hidden her pale hair underneath it, trying to hide her appearance the best she could. Her looks would not be too out of place any longer, and the rest did not matter as she would have to cheat her way through most of the paper checks anyway.
