The trees reached out, stretching their branches and catching her as she soared through the air, leaves puffing up and twigs intertwining to create a soft net to catch her. Melora made sure they moved her through the treetops as well, following Steve's flight path.
They touched the ground at the same time, him staring her down as she was lowered by the trees and he tilted his head.
"The trees?" He questioned, eyeing the forest around them suspiciously.
"Another one of my secrets," she said while kneeling to place her palm flat on the ground. The net of roots below her would be enough to tell her what to do. "The road is a mile that way." She stood up and pointed in a northwest direction.
Steve nodded and set off in the direction while Melora wandered towards one of the larger trees in the area. An old oak it seemed hundreds of years old.
"Go quick, I'll meet you there," she called after him, making him turn around to look as a subtle black smoke emerged around her, pouring out of her sleeves and the legs of her pants.
"What is-" Steve never got to finish his sentence as the icicles appeared on her spine, and she fell forward, going into the tree and through it.
It was harder to do this without fully completing the ritual, but after seeing how fast Steve could run, she needed to keep up. The forest was also quite willing to communicate with her which at least made sure she would not be too off of her path.
And sure enough, she stepped out of a tree next to a gravelly road curving through the forest. Not even a minute had gone by before Steve appeared, barely out of breath.
"That was..." She huffed, more than simply surprised by his speed. It was much more than simply remarkable.
"A bit slow?" He asked, tilting his head and she shook hers, getting low to the ground as she felt the roots below her give out a pulse.
Melora signalled him to do the same, and he came up beside her, both of them eyeing the road. Cars were coming, a few of them, and that was going to be their way inside of the facility. Another signal to Steve, he firmly nodded. He had kept up on his studies.
They readied up as the cars came rolling, and Steve went ahead, swinging himself up onto the back of one of the trucks. Melora ran up as well, but she hung onto the back instead, hearing the beating commencing inside. A few seconds later Steve opened up the flaps and grabbed onto her wrist, hauling her inside.
"Hopefully they won't be doing any checks," Steve said, eyeing the two unconscious and armoured men inside of the truck.
"Hydra is too arrogant for that," she said, jaw tense and keeping a lookout in the truck.
Melora was right as well, they soon left the forest behind and entered a massive factory. Never in her mind had she imagined everything to be of this scale. The factory in itself was taller than most of the redwood forests she had been in but they made it inside sure enough.
The two snuck their way across the loading area, enough trucks and tanks to hide behind and more than enough for a large attack. Without getting noticed they made their way inside of the factory itself, leaving unconscious people behind them in the process.
She knew what everything around them was; bombs, thousands of them along with the advanced weaponry Hydra had used against them in Azzano. Steve picked up one of the magazine-like things and pocketed it.
The way towards the holding cells was quite easy to pick out. There were multiple stories, cages made so you could look into them from the top as well as the sides, only bars and no walls around them.
