Rebirth Of The Phoenix: A Poem Of A Woman's Powerful Love (Complete Poem)

I awoke, abandoned, nearly as dead as a carcass,
Unaware she was searching for me in the darkness,
Six years she spent searching, seemingly hopeless,
By unlikely chance, a minor glimpse, she did notice,

She found me in the last place anyone would look,
Paths crossed by surprise, then a new path we took,
Told me she'd been searching for me for six years,
To find my obituary instead, the greatest of her fears,

She forced her way through fire to get me out of hell,
To suffer right beside me until I was able to get well,
Divorced, homeless, addicted, I was tightly chained,
My ex's abuse, left me broken, weak, and estranged,

It clearly wasn't easy for her, deep was my damage,
She never gave up on me, refreshing every bandage,
Stitching any wounds too deep to heal themselves,
And with none to help us, we built our life ourselves,

That was years ago, today that woman is my wife,
And after leaving hell, we forged a comfortable life,
In the apartment we rent, with space for our children,
Soon it'll be three years since the day we moved in,

It's been almost exactly that long, I've stayed clean,
Off of meth, off of heroin, and all that lies between,
My wife is my everything, my protector, my queen,
My children are my joy, sunshine in summer, serene,

These were the events that led up to my present life,
I owe everything entirely to my loyal & dedicated wife,
Mariah, I love you, even more than the air I breathe,
I'll do all I can do to ensure, you'll never want to leave,

Damien, Gabriel, and I of course mean Hazel too,
We would have no joy in life without all three of you,
Together we will progress, achieving all our goals,
I am excited to keep watching as the future unfolds,

It's crazy, really... The surprises this life holds...

"I never would have believed you, if you told me that I would be where I am right now, when I was where I was, in the beginning of this poem..

Abused, abandoned, disgarded, legitimately in hell... To having a perfect family & a life that treats me well...

That's truly an instance of complete personal evolution, one that someone feeling hopelessly stuck at rock bottom could likely never believe, should someone tell them that such a thing was destined for them, and I am so unbelievably grateful that I was and still am so fortunate, that something as amazing as that is what actually ended up happening to me... What a truly astounding world this is, that such a transformation is even a possibility, I will forever count my blessings. Thanks for reading, Blessed Be."
