Diana - Assistant/Therapist name, female
------------------------------
A man was sitting in a decorated white room with comfortable-looking clothing. A clipboard was in his hands and a metal pen was tapping on the wood. (F/c) rimmed glasses were on his face, and at the corner of each rim hung a chain that wrapped around his neck so it wouldn't fall to the floor.
The phone on his table suddenly rang out as another person picked it up. It was (Y/n)'s assistant, (A/n).
"Hello, this is City A (hospital name), physiology department. How can I help you?"
"Is this (Y/n) (L/n)?" The other person asked, they sounded worried and seemed to be hoping they called the right number.
"No, ma'am, this is Dr. (Y/n)'s assistant and the therapist who works with him, Diana. I can help you set up an appointment with him." (A/n) glanced at the focused man as the other looked up at him.
"B-but, *sigh* Fine, please set up an appointment as soon as possible." The woman on the other side sounds hesitant but still hung up after talking about when the appointment time was. "(Y/n), you're going to be busy tomorrow," Diana said, marking the event down on the calendar. "They'll arrive at two pm tomorrow. And I know you have nothing to do tomorrow."
"*Sigh* It's already decided, so what can I do other than be here a bit late?" (Y/n) said, grabbing his cup of (favorite drink) placed on the table. "Well I guess it's time to pack up and head home. I have more symptoms to go through." (Y/n) packed up his bag, placing documents inside.
Diana saw this and immediately started to speak. "H-hay, at least order me some bubble tea when I get home." She said with a pout, "Why do we therapists get more paperwork, hmph."
Diana and (Y/n) go way back, when (Y/n) came out as gay she was the only one who accepted him. And luckily they now work together and (Y/n) and Diana live next to each other helping each other defend one another. Having a female best friend brings a lot of benefits. Since people automatically assume they're dating, no one will ask him out, females at least.
(Y/n) opened up the app to her favorite tea place and ordered her favorite flavor. "Done~ It'll be there when you get home." (Y/n) waved her goodbye as he left the place heading home only to stay awake for the whole night as he summarized today's sessions into a neat stack.
Time went by fast as the next day already arrived. Not to say it's already near the time for his part of the appointment. "Diana, I need all the information, did he say anything strange? What do you suspect?"
Diana then replied after a few seconds of thinking. "He shows antisocial behaviors, he seems almost uncaring of the rest of the world when arriving. But he already has a decent job, it seems his relationships with his parents are not good and that's why they're here. This is either another case of parents not understanding privacy or something's wrong and should be checked out."
(Y/n) put a hand under his chin thinking for a bit then he stood up and patted down his clothes so he would look more welcoming. "Well, I'll get going now, this is going to be a hard case to crack." (Y/n) walked out of his and Diana's office and entered another one where the patient is.
When sitting down on the sofa placed in the comfortable-looking room (Y/n) checked out his patient. The young man had emerald green eyes with dark hair. He would look adorable if not for the large, built body. "Would you like something to drink? Or to eat? You've been here ever since lunch right?"
(Y/n) walked to a water dispenser and got himself a cup, he also got the other one a cup seeing as they weren't responding. Putting the cup of water in front of the boy and himself (Y/n) sat down on his chair and he was now ready to start his session. "So how are you today, I hope Diana wasn't too pushy with you." (Y/n) said, trying to get Matthew comfortable with him.
"Oh also, I'll need to record this conversation if that's okay. I can't write that fast and I don't want my neck to fall off looking up and down all the time, haha." And with that, (Y/n) puts his phone onto the table face down and the session starts.
"If you don't mind me asking, what is your name? Mine is (Y/n), you can call me Dr. (Y/n) if you want." (Y/n) waits for a few seconds ready to receive an answer. His eyes showed no fear, he has dealt with many patients who tried to take advantage of that silver of hesitation or fear. Though they weren't successful he was still able to tell they didn't like him.
"...Matthew Raynor." The young man replied he looked very cautious when saying his name. It makes sense, Matthew is suspected to have an antisocial personality disorder but that was only from the first meeting.
"What a nice name. So it seems like your doctor has already done some tests for alcohol and drugs a few days ago, all negative, that's good!" (Y/n) said, seeming very happy to say that. "Seeing you here I don't exactly get what's going on. So tell me about your relationship with your parents, if that's okay?"
Matthew glanced up at (Y/n) for the first time since (Y/n) arrived, he wasn't scared, just a bit tired from his parent's nagging about why they were so separated. "My parents don't know what privacy is," Matthew said, his brows slightly furrowed showing annoyance on the topic.
Seeing the other has stopped talking (Y/n) started speaking. "Ahh I get it, it must be annoying right?"
"Of course it is."
Deciding to drop the topic (Y/n) decided to get closer to Matthew on a personal level. "You're 20 right?" Matthew confirms, "You must be in college?" Matthews confirms again, "Oh? Then what are you studying?"
"Arts and sculpture." Short and simple was the answer, straight to the point, and caution still laced in his body language.
"Ahh that sounds interesting, I used to wish that I was an art student, do you like what you chose?" (Y/n) asked.
"I do like it... it's interesting." A twinge of annoyance showed up on his face, it seems like something was troubling him.
"Well how are the classes? Anything annoying happening recently involving classes?" (Y/n) asked, trying to make Matthew more comfortable around him.
"There has been one thing bugging me lately... I don't have a model for one of my assignments and it's annoying.."
"Only annoying?"
"I guess a bit of anger as well, it's rare for me to find a good model for my sculptures." (Y/n) saw the boy's eyes scanning him up and down when he spoke. It made him curious if he was chosen as one of the candidates for the modeling job.
"I see, you can control your emotions pretty well huh?"
"I guess so, sometimes I don't, but most of the time I do..." It wasn't until Matthew answered did he realize he fell into a trap. He didn't want to speak too much with this guy, he's just talking more and more.
"That's good... so you told Diana that you have a job? Can you tell me more about that?"
"I work at Sunset Pictures Cafe, the environment there is good, and the people there are nice to me." Now he's catching himself saying unnecessary things. Is it because he felt comfortable around (Y/n)? The guy gives off a peaceful aura that matches no other but that doesn't explain everything.
It's been an hour since (Y/n) first entered and it's time to end the session. Their time was up and (Y/n) learned quite a bit about Matthew's personality. A little too much. It felt like Matthew was trying to hide something from (Y/n) but he also seemed willing to give out information about his mental state.
"Well, today I got a better understanding with you." (Y/n) smiled as he spoke. Not a single time during the session did he even write something down, to Matthew it felt as if he was making a new ally. But he knew that their relationship is only professional, but they can have a relationship away from just a doctor and patient, right?
"Thank you for your time... Dr. (Y/n)." Matthew said feeling a bit weird saying the other's name for the first time.
"It's no problem, Matthew, now our next meeting will be a few days from now on. I hope you will make it." (Y/n) said as he invited Matthew out the door with him so he could escort him out. He didn't want Matthew to get lost after all.
Arriving at the door (Y/n) waved goodbye as Matthew watched, slightly waving back as well as he walked away. (Y/n) turned back and walked to his office seeing Diana waiting for him.
"I don't think this is a good situation," (Y/n) started, "His parents seem to not let go of his life," When Matthew was walking away his parents were waiting for him in the waiting room looking like they received some terrible news and when walking away the parents were standing by both his sides. "The kid doesn't trust me even the slightest, I fear this case is more complicated than I thought."
Sitting down (Y/n) fished out his phone from his pocket. "I fear it's also because I used this." Stopping the recording as he said so (Y/n) dropped the phone onto the table.
"You recorded your conversation, why? You didn't have any other problems with writing down stuff with other patients." Diana asked, puzzled by (Y/n)'s actions.
"I didn't feel like writing down stuff today. Plus each answer he gave he took more and more caution. LIke he knew I wasn't going to fall for normal psychology tricks and manipulation." (Y/n) said remembering something else Matthew did during the interview. "He seems to be lying about something, or at least hiding something."
"Right, I think so too, I tried asking if he has a lover or at least a crush but to both, he said no," Diana said ruling out the possibility of being broken by a relationship. "His voice also sounds almost annoyed when speaking to me, almost as if he hates me."
"Oh? That's new, he almost seemed shy to me, avoiding eye contact as if he was nervous... unless that's what he wants to appear to me." The thoughts only occurred to him just now, if Matthew did want that then he would have been fooled.
"But I doubt so, he seems normal and content." (Y/n) said not knowing what will happen in the next few months.
*A few months later*
"Haha, your parents are going to book all my appointment times if they keep coming back..." (Y/n) said, looking at the young man before him. "It's the 3rd time this week, I'm starting to think they're the ones who need therapy. Have you guys gone to family therapy yet?" (Y/n) said jokingly as he took a sip of his drink.
Now, Matthew has some psychological issues but seeing the parents (Y/n) is starting to think that this is an inherited trait. "Your parents seem paranoid each time you come in and only relax when they see you again. I'm starting to wonder how they allow me to be with you." Hearing this Matthew sighed.
"I'm just glad you didn't share my information with them," Matthew said, leaning back and his eyes once again scanned (Y/n)'s body up and down.
"You are legal of age, meaning if I don't have permission to tell your parents about your mental health. It'll get my license revoked and I will never be able to practice medicine again." (Y/n) took another sip as he glanced up at the wall for the time. "Well, today we can talk about what makes you relaxed." Another smile appeared on his face.
Through the past few months (Y/n) has noted that Matthew was a man of few words. Unless he asks a question that needs detail to be told which wasn't often.
'Talking to you.' Matthew thought then immediately shook the thought out of his head. He can't say that, it'll come off as creepy. "Carving... I guess." His words turned into a mumble at the end.
"That's expected, you are an art student after all. What do you usually like to carve?" (Y/n) inquired. He can help Matthew make a plan seeing how much detail a sculpture needs, the more detail the more time it takes. But when he asked the seemingly normal question, Matthew flinched, he was uncomfortable with the way the conversation was going.
But since this isn't their first time asking the question he may as well answer it. "Humans, life-size usually." His answer caused (Y/n) to be surprised, those kinds of sculptures take months to complete! "May I see your portfolio? I wanna see your works if that's okay."
(Y/n) has not taken a great interest in Matthew's works, usually, he wouldn't bother but something was pushing him to. Seeing Matthew a bit hesitant he decided to switch topics.
The slightly awkward atmosphere caused neither male to want to speak to break the silence. "I'll release you early today, you can stay here for the rest of the time or head home early." (Y/n) said knowing what Matthew will do, they still have an hour and who would sit here for an hour?
Matthew chose to stay...
Goddamn it.
"Haha I can't understand you sometimes." (Y/n) smiled and for the first time, Matthew smiled back.End
