When they said time could heal or patience is key I never really grasped the meaning of what they meant. However, as time passed, as these days turned into a month, it became a period of healing for everyone.
And we realized once things had been damaged you can't make them whole again. If your favorite mug was to break you can't put it back together, but instead of relishing in the loss of it you can buy a new one. It's not like the first because the first was special but it's new and you have the chance to make that one as special as the first.
You know? And that's what we did. We went to counseling and we started a rebuild of a new chapter. We ourselves are not like the people before the kidnapping, so we're bettering the people we are now.
"Ma! Xiomara won't give me back my chips!" Isiah said running into the room where Killian and I were laying down.
We were finally on that long overdue vacation in Paris. It had only been a day sense we arrived so to say we weren't jet lagged would be an understatement.
"Isaiah why are you yelling? Xiomara please give this boy back his chips before he wakes Killian up."
She came running into the room seconds later with a pout on her doll like face. "But auntie it's the last bag of Doritos." She whined.
"So get another!" Isaiah yelled. "Give it to me now!"
"No sense you're being so mean!"
I groaned before abruptly getting up. "Goddamit! Okay I'm up."
I walked toward them and took the chips before grabbing both of them by the back of the their shirts and dragging them to their separate rooms that were up on the third floor of the house.
"Now stay there." I said before heading down the stair into the kitchen.
All the adults were helplessly sleeping today so I was the only one up— including the two that I now want to strangle.
Going to the sink I grabbed a glass of water out of the cabinet and poured me some water. This was exactly what I wanted— needed right about now. The night was quiet and the moonlight shined through the windows lighting up the kitchen.
Suddenly I was startled and almost dropped the glass in my hand when arms snacked around my waist. It was after the emerging smell of my favorite shampoo smell met my nose that I knew it was Killian.
He dipped his head down into the crook of my neck and peppered light kisses all over. I hummed and leaned back against him, letting my head fall back enjoying the sensation.
"What are you doing up baby?" His voice came out raspy and deep, sending shivers down my spine.
"Isaiah and Xiomara were up fighting over chips."
"Mhm." He hummed as his hands slowly started to move down from their position on my stomach.
"You don't really care do you?" I asked all knowingly.
