you can't run from death

Her nose was cold, her lungs burned as her feet carried her through the forest, getting denser, the deeper she ran.

She had no idea where she was going, but as long as she got away, she didn't really care.

A familiar growl vibrated from behind her, the loud and quick snapping of branches getting closer to her, making her heart thump faster and louder, if that was possible.

She needed to hide quickly.

Seeing a larger bush, she quickly dashed in. Her hands quickly covering her face to quieten her rapid, loud breathing.

Tears welled up in her eyes as the situation hit her.

She just saw her friend die by some unknown creature.

Just as she was ready to properly grieve, she held her breath when she heard movement near her, and a familiar low growl.

Taking a peek from the bush, moving a leaf, and there it stood.

Back turned to her, hastily searching and sniffing the air, looking for her.
It turned, making direct eye contact with her.

The girl froze, not daring to breathe as the creature stared at her dead in the eyes, making the girl petrified. Her blood ran cold when it took a step closer to her.

However, by the grace of the heavens, the creature rushed off in another direction, where a loud sound of a branch breaking resonated.

Zada released a shuddered breath and the hot tears she held in, streamed down her face staining her cheeks.
Her body shook as the girl grieved.

She quickly came back to her senses when she heard screaming and the loud thud of a tree hitting the forest floor.

Her uneven breathing resonated through the bush, shaking some of the leaves. There was another victim.

Feeling conflicted, whether to move from her spot to somewhere safe and secure or if to just stay in the bush.

Deciding on the first choice, the girl crawled out of the bush and started running in the direction she came from.

Zada felt a chill run down her spine when she felt a burning gaze on her.
However she didn't slow down, in fact she increased her pace, her nose burning from the cold air.

Before she knew it, she fell to the damp forest floor. Heaving heavily as she had the wind knocked out of her, and an agonizing scream tore threw her cords.

Tears stinging her eyes from the pain coming from her legs. The creature that was behind her lunged and clawed her legs.

She just layed there, whimpering in pain, unsure of what to do. Well it wasn't like she could do anything but lay there in pain.

Another slash across her back, the girl cried out even more. Her body felt hot, an extreme burning sensation took over her body.

Another slash, cutting deeper than the previous one, then another followed by another, and the cycle just continued until the girl finally stopped breathing and her heart came to a final stop.

And the last thing she heard was a faint rumbling coming from the sky, symbolizing the grief that would become of the girls in their last moments of life.
