chapter 3 - big mistake

Damon didn't say much about where they were going that night, just that it was a "costume party" and they had to be ready by nine.
Caroline was honestly excited, it'd been a while since she'd been to a party, and the old version of her would've jumped at something like this. Ever since Tyler left that summer, she'd been kind of in the dumps. Hopefully this might change that a little bit.
Elena walked out of Caroline's adjoined bathroom, a reluctant look on her face. She was wearing a tight little black dress that highlighted all of her curves. "What do you guys think?"
"You look amazing!" Bonnie exclaimed. "Totally!" Caroline agreed, beaming at Elena, who let out a small giggle at the compliments. "Good enough to eat." Damon suddenly walked into the room, sending a flirty wink towards Elena. Bonnie rolled her eyes, but Caroline could've sworn she saw Elena blush, her cheeks turn pink as she looked away from him.
"Damon!" Caroline jumped and turned away from him, fumbling with the buttons of her shirt. "Get out, I'm changing!"
"Oh please, it's nothing I haven't seen before." He smirked, causing the girls to giggle.
"Ladies, your carriage awaits outside, I will be there momentarily." He said in a gentlemanly voice, causing another few light chuckles as they headed downstairs.
"Alright." He turned to Caroline now that she finished buttoning her top. "Let's see what we got." He moved his finger in a circular motion, and Caroline rolled her eyes, but never the less obliged, and did a small twirl, before turning back to him with a stern look on her face, her arms crossed.
"What are you supposed to be?" He asked, his voice filled with confusion. "You look like a librarian, and not the hot kind."
Caroline rolled her eyes. "I'm a flight attendent, okay? Now if you're done mocking me-"
"It's supposed to be a sexy party. At least pop off three buttons or something." He said, wiggling his finger towards her shirt.
"Three?" Caroline's eyes widened in shock as he said this, but Damon just walked over to her closet, unfazed.
"I thought you wanted to meet someone tonight." He said while flipping through a few outfits.
"Here." He threw a silky red dress at her face and she caught it. "These are pajamas." She said, after a moment of inspecting the dress. Damon's eyebrow raised in curiosity before he shook his head. "It's fine, just wear it. Put some red lipstick on too. You can be the devil."
Caroline just sighed, too tired to argue as she made her way to the bathroom. She emerged several minutes later to see Damon lying down on her bed, staring at the ceiling. He sat up quickly when he noticed her emerge, his eyes practically bulging from his head. "Wow." He said, his voice hoarse. He coughed clearing his throat. "I mean you look..." His eyes flickered up and down her body in awe.
"Sexy enough to get in the party?" She mocked, using his words from before.
"I guess we'll have to see, won't we?" He smirked, as they headed outside to the car.
