When Chad and Meg were driving, Meg was sulking in the passenger seat.

"Meg? Are you alright?" said Chad.

Meg didn't answer.

"Meg?" Chad said again.

Meg turned her head and said "No! I cannot believe I did that. I can't imagine what Jeremy must be thinking"

"He's probably thinking he was wrong about taking you to meet his folks" said Chad.

A slow tear fell down Meg's cheek.

"He's probably also thinking that I ruined his Christmas" she said.

"No. No; it's my fault for letting him take you to that place" said Chad.

"Don't blame yourself, Chad. You did absolutely nothing. Sir and Lady Clyde fighting is my fault. I brought up that story and... I told Jeremy I'd never tell anyone" said Meg.

"He told you first?" said Chad.

"He never told you? He said it was the reason he knocks three times whenever he's at the door" said Meg.

"Oh dear. And I just thought he did it to tease me" said Chad.

"Well, he didn't. I told him I'd never tell anyone, but I did" said Meg.

"Oh, Meg" said Chad sympathetically.

"I'm not a good friend, Chad" said Meg.

She was really crying now. Chad pulled the car over to comfort her.

He reached over, took off Meg's glasses and dried her eyes.

"Meg, look at me. You are more loyal than anyone I know" said Chad.

"I am?"

"You are"

Meg gave in and hugged Chad tight.

"I love you so much" she said.

"I love you too. Don't you think on what Clyde said about us. Don't you think on it for one minute" said Chad.

"I won't" said Meg.
