A/N: Did I put all my work aside to finish writting this chapter? Yeah. Was it worth it? Yeah. Does that mean you guys get a double update? HELL YEAH!

🥳🥳🥳🥳Happy new year y'all!!! 2022!!🥳🥳🥳🥳

"My god! Almina! This is the fifth time your late," Scarlett shook her head, as you walked in.

"Yeah, yeah, I know. Sorry, the traffic was so bad, and I totally mixed up the schedule. Is he in yet?" You rush to get change and get your apron.

"No, you're lucky he has a bad hangover and decided to stay late." Scarlett shook her head, walking back to her station, with you shuffling behind her.

Most of your shift was pretty boring, you didn't really have many people over, so you and Scarlett got to try out a few new recipes for the Christmas menu.

"Ugh! This is sad, I have a master's in Culinary and can't even build a fucking gingerbread house!" Scarlett groaned, throwing the icing bag aside. You both were supposed to work on displaced items and take pictures for the holiday menu. But Scarlett thought it would be fun to make a gingerbread house, because she had never made one,  and sugar cookies for the staff. You were working on the cookies while Scarlett was struggling to get the house to stand.

"I told you! You have to let it set before you add another wall." You smile, taking the icing bag and adding another layer, and leaving the two sides to set. "The longer you leave it, the better the base will stand."

"How do you know that?" Scarlett asked, laying back in the chair. You guys were currently using the test kitchen, which was secluded and had more space.

"My mom baked a lot when I was a kid." You smile, remember how your mother used to love baking, and would always come up with crazy projects for you guys every weekend.

"I thought your mom worked?" Scarlett sat up, picking up a freshly iced cookie.

"Yeah, it was before my dad died. She apparently worked at a bakery in college, that's actually how they met." You sigh, sitting on the island across from Scarlett. "You should have seen their faces when they talk about it, they would light up like a thousand bulbs. Mom would blush, and slap him on his knee when he talks about how they used to be. They were so cute together."

"Hey, you okay?" You didn't realize a teardrop escaped your eye until Scarlett pointed it out.

"Yeah," You wipe the stray tear. "Yeah, no. I just miss them so much." You hop off the counter, going to check on the cookies. "Mom wasn't the same after Dad died, she wouldn't smile, she wouldn't talk, just threw herself into work."

"I'm sorry Al," Scarlett walked over to you, hugging you softly.

"It's okay," You pull away from her, feeling lightheaded, again.

"Hey, you okay?" Scarlett held you as you stumbled back.

"Yeah, jus-" You run to the garbage can, puking your guts out. Scarlett held your hair back, rubbing your back as you kneel before the trash can.

"Are you okay sweetie?"  She helped you clean up.

"I- I don't know, this is the third time this week." You take the glass of water from her.

"Are you coming down with something?" She checked your forehead. "No fever,"

"No, no cold or fever, it's just constant throwing up, backaches, and bizarre food cravings." You list your symptoms.

"When did you last have your period?" She stood up, staring down at you.

"I don't remember," You shook your head.
