Chapter Forty Four

DIANA'S POV

Ever since I'd moved in with Kareem I'd stopped using public transport but I'd decided to use my old route just so I could check up on a few old friends. The city was already buzzing with holiday cheer since it was two weeks to Christmas. Oh how the time had flown. It had been nine months since I met Kareem yet it felt like just the other day when he had walked into the book cafe looking for a book. A lot had happened during those nine months and I couldn't wait to see how the year would end.

The line for the bus wasn't that long so I got in and took my favorite seat behind the driver. I saw Johnte as I was getting in but he was busy with other passengers so he didn't see me. We'd get our time to talk when he was less busy.

When the bus was full we took off and Johnte immediately started collecting the bus fare from the back of the bus. It took him a while to get to me and when he did he was surprised to see me. His mouth fell open as he gazed at me

"Naona vizuri ama ni macho inanidanganya?"He exclaimed making me laugh.

Are you real or are my eyes lying to me?

"Sasa johnte."I waved with a shy smile.

Hi Johnte.

"Diana?!Sasa mrembo. Long time bana."He exclaimed taking a seat next to me.

Hi beautiful, it's been a long time.

Before I could react he pulled me into a surprise hug making me smile. I saw Johnte like a little brother so I hugged him back happy to see that he still liked me and that he wasn't mad I had abandoned him.

"Sana aki, nimekumiss."I replied as we pulled apart.

Very, I've missed you.

"Nimekumiss sana pia. Ulipotelea wapi? Ama uliolewa na haukunishow."He asked.

I've missed you a lot too. Where did you disappear to? Or did you get married and didn't even tell me about it.

"Kitu kama hiyo."I replied with a laugh.

Something like that.

"Wah ebu nipee story sasa. Who's the lucky guy?"He inquired.

Wow, you've got to tell me the story.

I laughed and proceeded to tell him about Kareem. How we met, a few details about our relationship and how we had moved in together.

"Hiyo harusi lazima nifike. Sinanga suti lakini nitanunua kazuri gikomba niwakilishe hiyo siku. Usikose kuniita aki."Johnte demanded politely.

I must attend the wedding. I don't have a suit but I can get one at the second hand market so I can look good that day. Don't fail to invite me please.

"Siwezi kosa Johnte. Si unajua wewe ni mtu wangu wa maana."I replied.

I will invite you Johnte, you're special to me.

"Wazi."He cheered excitedly.

Awesome.

I had no idea if Kareem would propose but we were headed in the right direction so he probably would sooner or later. I wasn't making fake promises because because I would definitely invite Johnte to the wedding when it did happen.

"Familia iko aje, siz alimaliza ryma?"I asked.

How is your family? Did your sister completel primary school?
