DIANA'S POV
I watched Kareem walk away looking so sad and defeated making me feel guilty for saying no. But I didn't exactly say no, I just requested him to stop being so pushy. How could he threaten me with asking for my hand in marriage? From asking me on a date to my hand in marriage was a very huge leap. I wanted to go after him but I had no idea what to say.
No longer in the mood for swimming I got out of the pool and grabbed my towel heading towards the changing rooms to take a shower. Running into Kareem at the same resort my parents were having their anniversary party was the one thing I had not expected. Neither did I expect to see him looking so fine in those swimming shorts and nothing else. His abs were to die for, the light dusting of brown hair on his broad chest emphasized his manliness and I loved how ripped he was everywhere.
Our conversation had definitely not gone well but he had backed me into a corner so I had retaliated in a not so kind way.
After I was done showering, I dried off and changed back into my white sundress. I towel dried my hair and left it damp since there was no blow drier in the resort. I walked back inside the resort to the party space my siblings and I had rented out for the day to host the party.
The first person to see me was Salome who was feeding Oliver away from everyone else. I needed someone to vent out to and she was my best friend so I was directly towards her.
"What's wrong? I thought you were going out for a swim?"She asked me.
I dropped myself next to her with a huff envying Oliver for his oblivion. Life was so easy when you were a kid since all you did was eat and sore on but also not being able to talk was a bummer so he didn't have that going for him.
"Yeah I was until I ran into Kareem."I replied.
"He's here? Is that in the stalkerish kind of way or just a coincidence."Salome asked.
"Coincidence I think."
"You being here looking so solemn means your meeting didn't go so well. What did you do Diana?"Salome asked with an accusing tone as she shoved mashed pawpaws in Oliver's mouth.
"What makes you think I did something wrong?"I inquired feeling a little offended.
"Because I'm your best friend and I know you, plus ever since you met Kareem again you've been a wreck so I'm definitely sure you did or said something wrong. If I'm lying then narrate your whole encounter to me and prove me wrong."She suggested.
She was right about me being a wreck the past few weeks but I didn't want to be labeled the bad guy so I ranted out my whole conversation with Kareem from beginning to end.
"I know you wanted to disprove me but all you've done is just show me how much of a bitch you were to Kareem."Salome accused.
"Hey don't insult me in front of my nephew."I admonished.
"Why? It's not like you don't deserve it. Honestly if I were Kareem I'd never speak to you again or try getting another date from you. And besides from what you've told me it doesn't seem likely him trying to ask you out again." Salome answered.
"Did I really mess up that bad?"I asked feeling even more guilty now that Salome was on Kareem's side.
"Yes but good thing is that you can still try and salvage what you ruined."Salome consoled.
"How?"
"Before I tell you how, I just want to ask you one question, no lying please. Honestly speaking do you want to go out with Kareem?"She asked.
