Chapter 13 - Kiss.
"I'm coming I'm coming." I sighed to the annoying whines. I half-ran out the door, shrugging on my grey cardigan and pulling up my white asym skirt. The bastard had called me only 5 minutes ago and given me that amount of time to get ready. Slamming the door shut, I gripped the strap of my side shoulder bag and glared at the figure sitting in the car in front of me.
He grinned at me, pulling down his shades to wink. "Hey."
"Screw you Jordan." I deadpanned, slamming the car door as I slid in. I was venting my annoyance onto the doors today.
"I'm sorry." He teased.
"Sure you are." I snarled at him.
"Note to self. Never upset a girl." He cackled at my annoyed face.
"Damn right." I sighed, settling into the cushiony seat. "Where are you taking me at 3 in the afternoon?"
"Somewhere. It is Valentine's Day after all." Jordan pouted. I rolled my eyes and blew out a gust of air.
"I don't have a Valentine." I teased, closing my eyes.
"What about me?"
"You don't count."
"Wow okay fine."
"Shut up and drive." It was Valentine's day. It would have been the first Valentine's Day together as a couple. I shrugged the thought away. Anna was hosting a small party tonight and he was invited as well. But I needed to get over him so I had to go and face him. Unlike last time when you chickened out.
The car jolted to a stop. "We're here." His soft voice tickled my skin. I felt the urge to scratch the areas his breath had brushed.
"I know." My eyes opened to heaven. "Woah." I breathed out. The afternoon sun winked in my eyes, highlighting the vivid green leaves that dangled off slender trees. The grass tousled with the soft breeze, moving the blades slowly and rhythmically. A line of dandelion fluffs paraded through the air and the clear blue sky reflected in the silky still lake that lay far beyond.
"Care to join me for a picnic?" Jordan was at my side, waiting for me to climb out of the car.
"Okay." I whispered, almost in a trance. I stepped out on the rough gravel of the car park and ran towards the grass, removing my flats as soon as I entered the paradise. There was a serene calm that hung in the air, as though it was waiting for something. Or someone.
My toes swept across the blades and I tumbled into the green blanket, allowing every weed to grab a piece of me. The strong scent of the grass overwhelmed my senses and I sighed, all traces of stress disappearing with the breeze.
"You're enjoying yourself." Jordan said, amused.
"I haven't been to the park for a while." I breathed.
"I can tell." He chuckled, and stretched out his hand. "Dance with me." He pulled me up and I flew into his arms. He caught me at the waist and spun me around, the wind whistling against my skin. Automatically, he guided me into a leap and we danced to the imaginary beat of the wind. A leg raised here, an arm stretched there; we were moving with simplicity; much more simplicity than our competition dance. Jordan collapsed on the ground, dragging me down with him.
"Seriously?" I puffed, wiping the sweat from my forehead.
"What?" He raised an eyebrow at me.
"Did you have to pull me down?" I rolled my eyes.
