CHAPTER 24

BIRTHDAY

Damian's POV

"Tol, jowa mo nandito!" Art shouted, making my eyes roll instantly.

"Ingay mo tanga."

Tatamad tamad akong tumayo at lumabas ng kwarto. Sumilip ako sa terrace upang batiin si Nova ngunit wala naman siya sa living room.

"Looking for me?"

I glanced at my side and smiled when I saw her at the stairs, waving at me. "Halika nga dito." I welcomed her with a hug but she pushed me away as soon as she could.

Allergic talaga sa'kin 'to. "Akala ko ba uuwi ka ng Pinas ngayon?" nagtatakang tanong ko.

"Why? Are you disappointed that I didn't? Don't you want to see me anymore? Ouch."

Tumawa ako at ginulo ang buhok niya. "Sira. Syempre kung sinabi mong dito ka pala magse-celebrate ng birthday mo, 'di sana nagplano kami nila Silva ng party."

"It's fine. I'm not in the mood to party."

"What happened?"

"I cancelled my flight since my parents called to say they'll be flying to Hawaii. I think they have a problem with our store there." Halata sa mga mata niya ang lungkot.

"Sus. Aminin mo na lang kasing gusto mo lang talaga makasama ako."

"Sure, Damian. Whatever."

Natawa ako at niyaya na siya sa kwarto ko. Sumalampak agad siya sa kama ko katulad ng palagi niyang ginagawa habang dumiretso naman ako sa study table ko.

"I heard Art earlier. Girlfriend mo na pala ako? Wahhh. I wasn't informed."

I opened my textbook and started answering my homework before speaking again. "Parang 'di ka na nasanay sa mga 'yon. Palagi na lang tayong inaasar."

"Maybe because you're always giddy every time you see me."

"Baka nga, Nova. Ang ganda mo kasi."

"I already know that, Damian."

Umiling na lang ako at nag-concentrate na sa assignment ko habang nagbabasa naman siya ng libro. Ever since I showed Nova the real me, we started getting along pretty well. Parehas kasi kami ng interests. She plays soccer and she also does car racing which is pretty amazing. Tapos nagkakasundo pa kami sa mga subjects kung saan magkaklase kami.

I learned that Nova is also from a wealthy family. Her family owns building materials stores in several countries including Australia and Philippines. Part din pala siya ng Elite society but she never attended on any of Senyor's game. Katulad ko ay hindi niya rin trip iyon.

Madalas na rin siyang pumupunta dito sa bahay upang dito magaral. She likes the silence here. Hindi katulad sa dormitory na palaging may magugulo.

"Oh by the way, remember that guy I told you about?"

"Sino? 'Yung captain ng hockey team?"

"Yeah. Can you help me get rid of him?"

Ngumiti ako at nilingon siya. "Bakit? Hindi na gumagana pagsusungit mo?"

"Unfortunately, yes. My tactics don't work on him. He's starting to irritate me. Each morning, he'll show up in front of my room and force me to walk with him through my next subject." Aba sira ulo 'yon ah.
