TORMENT

Iris' POV

It was miserable not talking to Dash.

After he asked for some time off in our relationship, I had never heard a word from him since then. I didn't try to reach out on him because I respect his request. And even though I badly wanted to hear his voice, I stayed away.

We barely see each other at school. Hindi ko siya nakikita tuwing umaga at kapag lunch time naman ay madalas kasama niya ang mga ka-team mates niya o 'di kaya ay sa labas siya kumakain. Every afternoon, he'd be at the field, practicing or he'll leave once his classes are done.

I'm glad no one asked me yet why Dash had been so distant lately. Hindi pa napapansin ng mga kaibigan ko dahil medyo nasanay rin silang nasa Academy ito.

There are times I'd catch him looking at me but he'll just purse his lips, nod his head and walk away. There are moments where he'll smile lightly but I think that only happened twice.

I am always tempted to approach him but I knew he'll just turn me down.

Honestly, I'm afraid that this new routine of ours will continue. Ayokong masanay siyang wala ako sa buhay niya. I don't want Dash to live without me. It hurts to even think about it but the only thing I could do now is hope that somehow he'd realize he loves me and that I'm worth forgiving.

"Hey." I looked up and got startled to see Damian on my side. "Amari said this should be completed before your shift ends." He handed me a folder and then he immediately went back to his chair before I could even answer him.

Ever since he told Dash about the truth, he stopped looking at me. Napansin kong iniiwasan niya ako at kinakausap lang kapag tungkol iyon sa trabaho. Nagtataka ako kung bakit pero naisip kong mas mabuti na itong hindi na kami naguusap.

I don't want to hurt Dashiell anymore.

"Focus Iris...Focus," I convinced myself, sighing before working on the project that Ms. A tasked me to do.

While on it, I heard Nova's voice near my table.

"No but the movie's really horrible. You have to admit that it is."

"Hindi kaya. It was fun to watch," sagot naman ni Damian na tumatawa tawa pa.

"Is morbid fun for you, stiff? There were a lot of bloody hell scenes!"

"Horror movie 'yon. What do you expect?"

"I should have never believed you when you told me it was good. I hated it! I feel like vomiting."

Nagtawanan silang dalawa at sa hindi maintindihang dahilan ay nakaramdam ako ng kakaiba. I couldn't explain what it is but as I watch Damian smiling while Nova keeps on complaining about the movie, I was kind of bothered.

I frowned and shook my head. Siguro naiinis lang ako dahil medyo maingay sila. Tinuon ko na lang ulit ang pansin ko sa computer at tinapos na ang pinapagawa sa akin.
