It was a rainy day in Monstadt, and the rain was pouring hard on the roof. For some reason, it felt like something bad was going to happen. Nevertheless, you tried to ignore the feeling. It was probably nothing. You decided to tidy the house in order since you had nothing else to do and couldn't go outside in the rain.
Then there was a light knock on the door.
"Who is it?" You patted your hands on your dress, but received no answer. You went towards the door anyway and opened it. It was Kaeya and he looked like a mess. His drenched hair was in disarray and his skin had seemed like it had burns and scratches all over. He looked like he was about to break down.
"I... have nowhere to go, so I went here." He cried onto your shoulder, holding you while he was shaking. You held him back with your arms, trying to comfort him. You have never seen him like this since you met him, which made you concerned.
"Oh my god, Kaeya. Are you okay? What happened?" Your hands circled his back to comfort him.
"I don't want to talk about it right now. Can we just stay like this?" He kept his head on your shoulder.
"Okay, of course." You held him for a while until he pulled away from you himself. He wiped his tears on the sleeve of his jacket, still shaking.
He spoke quickly, "I told Diluc my secret and he was going to kill me until I got my vision from who knows where. It gave me a shield and he stopped, so I just ran away as far as I could from there."
"Woah, slow down. Your secret? Kill you?" You were shocked by what he was saying. You stared at the vision he held in his hand that had a light blue glow, he was bestowed with a cryo vision. It was a vision opposite to Diluc's.
"I'm so sorry, I can't tell you my secret. I'm worried how you'll react, how your opinion will change of me, I'm sorry so sorry-" You held his hands to calm him down.
"It's okay, Kaeya. You don't need to tell me." But you were curious how terrible of a secret he held that would make his own brother strike against him violently.
"And why did Diluc try to hurt you? If you're comfortable with answering." You asked.
"It has to do with my secret, but don't think differently of him. He's not a monster, I am." He cried.
"I'm sure you're not. I'm still confused why Diluc would do that, but I'll try to understand him." You tried to hold him again to reassure him.
"I am, you don't truly know me or why I came to Monstadt. I'm just a liar who lies all the time. I'm fake and don't deserve any of your guys' love."
"Look, I may not know you completely but from what I've seen from you, I know that you have a good heart. That's not something you can fake, you can just tell if someone does. So you need to stop being so negative." You held him tightly while he sobbed on your shoulder again.
"You're always so nice to me. I don't deserve you." He sniffled like a child.
You sighed, patting his back. "Hey, you always cheer me up when I'm down. I'd say you're very nice yourself too." You pulled away and smiled.
He wiped away his tears again. "Where's your parents?"
"Oh, they're out of town. Went on a trip to Liyue."
"Oh, good. I thought I was making a big disturbance." He smiled weakly.
"Haha nope, you weren't."
"So, you were saying that you had nowhere to go? You can't go back to the winery?"
"I don't think.. Diluc is going to want me to come back. I'm scared to go back there, but it's not entirely his fault." He kept his head low.
"Oh, wow. I mean you can stay with me for a few days. I don't know how my parents would feel about you living here though-"
"Ah, thank you but no need. I can stay here for a few days, but I'll figure out what to do soon."
"That's good, please come to me if you need help with anything."
"Okay, I will. Thank you." He smiled.
You looked at him and saw how drenched he was from the rain and your dress became damp when you held him.
"Goodness, you're soaked. You can take a hot bath. I don't want you catching a cold."
"Really? Thank you." He was slightly shivering still.
"As for your clothes, don't worry. I will find something suitable that will fit you. I'll make sure to leave it beside the door."
"Thank you." He gave you a warm smile.
"Of course."
-
He came out of the bathroom with the clothes you gave him, and his hair tied back neatly. "Ah, I'm done." He held his hand up at you.
"Oh, just in time. I made you some hot soup." You placed the bowl and a spoon on the table for him.
"You didn't need to, I can cook something for myself. But thank you." He sat down and drank the soup while you sat across him on another chair.
"It's really good, a family recipe?" He asked.
"I guess you can call it that. Just a little twist from the original dish."
"Gee, you're like a mother." He smiled not looking at you.
"Really? That's not the first time I've been called that. I just don't want you to get sick, that's all."
"It's a good trait and a compliment."
"I guess so." You looked at the table's surface and there was a silence.
"You'd make a great wife too. I mean not that you are destined to be one because you're a girl but I was just saying."
"Yeah.. I understand. Thanks?"
He finished his soup. "Sorry, I'm actually not the greatest conversationalist."
"I can see that. Let me put your stuff away for you." You took his bowl and spoon, putting it in the sink.
"Thanks." He still sat in the chair.
"Mhm. Say, since it's raining and there's nothing to do, want to sit by the fireplace?"
"Oh, ah of course." You both went to where the fireplace was and sat on the sofa next to each other.
"It's um cool you have a cryo vision." You told him.
"You tried to make a pun there?" He smiled.
"What? Oh no, that was unintentional."
"Oh haha. Anyways, yes I don't like it too much right now but it's pretty to look at." He held the vision in his hand, looking at it and putting it away on the side table.
You decided to grab a blanket that was nearby and put it over him.
"Thanks. You don't want to share it?" He asked.
"Nah, I'm fine."
"No, take some of it. It's pretty cold today." He put half of the blanket over you, and you decided to huddle closer to him so it would cover you both equally.
"Thank you for taking care of me. I don't know what I would do without a friend like you." He smiled warmly.
"Of course, any time." You started to yawn.
"You're getting tired?"
"Yeah, just a little."
"You can rest on my shoulder."
"Okay."
You leaned your head against his shoulder, closing your eyes. He leaned into you as well with his cheek resting on the top of your head, closing his eyes. You both dozed off to sleep.
