"Of course, that will be $5.76," she said. " What's the name for the order?"
"Y/n." You said. There was a bit of hesitation in your voice.
"Ok, your order-" She stared at you.
Here it comes.
The barista looked at you in shock before regaining their composure.
"I'll call you when you're order is ready she said." They said.
No snarky comment? You thought when looking for a seat. You sat in a chair next to a window.
You sighed and looked out the window seeing dozens of flashy cars pass by, people walking with their dogs in Gucci sweatsuits.
Captivated by the view you didn't notice a woman with silky, ebony, hair sitting down in the seat in front of you.
You averted your eyes from the window to her.
"Oh uh, Hello." You said awkwardly.
The girl smiled, " You don't know who I am do you?" She asked.
The girl had a beautiful velvet scarf around her neck., a plain white t-shirt, and a black leather jacket.
Oh, shit is she like a relative of mine?
" I work at the library."She explained. " I'm Mikasa."
"Ah, I see, I'm sorry I didn't remember you," I said.
Damn, I thought I knew all the library staff.
"It's ok, so only intern there a few times a week." She said. "I'm still in college."
She seemed a few years younger than me.
"So you know who I am?" I asked
" Yeah, I heard that they fired you as well, which to me was stupid since we don't have another financial assistant " She scowled.
You looked at Mikasa for a bit. This isn't the first time that somebody has talked to you, but someone has spoken to you without it being a mean remark or snarky comment.
"Hey, Y/n are you alright?" She asked.
You glanced up at her realizing that you were not listening.
"Yeah I'm sorry I spaced out, what were you saying?" You asked.
"I meant are you ok with the situation, I know this is probably something no one thought to ask you, but your opinion." She said.
"It doesn't feel that way a lot of the time. You admitted. "But thank you, Mikasa."
" It's no problem."
You and Mikasa talked for a while, mostly about how shitty your father was, although you left out the part about you being forced to marry someone, as it felt like too much baggage to drop on someone.
Mikasa was easy to talk to, you found yourself opening up to her little by little.
" The barista was supposed to give me my drink and scone a long time ago, -"
"Excuse me, ma'am, can you come here please?"
Mikasa said politely.I get the feeling shit is about to go down.
"Yes, what can I do for you miss?"
"My friend here hasn't gotten her order yet. They've been waiting a long time you see-"
"Well, I have other customers so they're going to have to wait."
" It's fine, you can cancel the order, I'll just get my money back," I stated.
"Oh, but you could donate to the charity we support, those poor starving children in Africa."
Bitch, name one country in Africa.
"Oh, I forgot that you were tight, on money, my apologies." She snickered and left.
"What a bitch." Mikasa said looking in the barista's direction.
"Yeah I know, but she's not the worst or the first." You say.
You looked at the window, while Mikasa glaring at the barista and noticed how the sun was about to set. You glanced at your watch. It was 5: 42, your reservations were at 7.
"Hey Mikasa, i'll need to go soon I have dinner plans."
"Oh that's fine, i was getting tired of this place anyway. She said standing. "It smells like fish in here." Glaring at the barista.
