Brielle tossed her bag into the car and got in, Jace getting in beside her. "Did you eat this morning?" He asked.

Brielle raised her protein smoothie that Garrett made for her especially. She took a long sip from the straw and smiled at Jace.
"Good, drink the whole thing." Brielle didn't argue but kept slurping up the drink. It was going to be long doctors visit.

Lexi felt her phone buzz in her pocket. She quietly dug is out and looked at the text.

I want a dinner. I'll meet you at the small Italian cafe in your town tonight. Wear something, pretty. Seven o'clock.

Lexi wanted to chunk the phone across the room and scream at it, but instead she forced herself to stay still. She didn't reply, she didn't want to. Lexi didn't think she could do it, but what choice did she have? She zoned out all during class and when the bell rang she didn't even notice. Quinn tapped her shoulder and she jumped at his touch. "Gracie, the bell rang." He said.

"Oh, it did? I didn't even hear it."

"I know. Come on, what's going on?" He said picking up her books from her desk. She stood up and walked with Quinn out into the hall.

"Oh, it's just been a weird several days. Tired I guess."

"Mmhm, sure." Quinn said leading her to their next class.

"What?"

"You'd think that after we have known each other so long that you would just tell me what was going on. I can read you like an open book."

"Remind me to kill you off in my book." Lexi said. Quinn nudged her and laughed, "There's my Gracie." They turned down the hall and entered Mr. King's classroom. "Mr. Thieves, Miss Holmes, you're late." Garrett stated.

"Yes, a whole minute and a half. Take us away arrest us now, our offense is just so terrible." Lexi smarted back.

"Miss Holmes I'll ask you to keep your attitude in check, lest you'd like to take a trip to detention dragging Mr. Thieves with you. And I don't think he'll appreciate that." Garrett said. Lexi held his gaze for a moment before taking her books from Quinn and sitting at an empty desk.
"Good choice Miss Holmes." Garrett said taking up his book again.

Time ticked slowly and Lexi couldn't focus on anything. She found herself wishing that the time would go faster and slower at the same time. All too soon the school day ended. And then soccer practice began. Lexi changed into her practice outfit and strung her air up in a ponytail. She squirted some water in her mouth, and ran out onto the field. She warmed up until Dallas came out onto the field. "Alright girls, I hope you warmed up cause we are going to have a scrimmage. Lexi and Mara are our team captains. Go ahead ladies, choose your teams." Lexi smiled slyly at Mara, she couldn't wait to kick her ass.

Once the teams were chosen the game began. Both teams were equally skilled and Lexi got irritated when she fumbled the ball and Mara stole it right from under her and scored. Lexi fumed and ran to the opposite side of the field. Mara came up beside her. "Is it your off day or do you just always do poorly?" Lexi ignored her. Mara was kicking the ball across the ground and Lexi stuck her foot out trying to get the ball and also purposely tripped Mara. Mara face planted into the grass and cursed at Lexi. "Oh I'm sorry, are you having an off day, or did you ever even learn how to play?" Mara growled and went to stand up, once she was on her feet, Lexi sweet her foot in an arc under Mara's feet sending her falling on her ass.

Dallas had seen the whole thing. He stalked over to Lexi, grabbed her arm and forced her to walk away. "If you can't handle the heat Mara than maybe you should take up knitting!" Lexi yelled over her shoulder. She kept yelling at Mara until she couldn't be heard. Dallas marched her into the girls locker room. He turned on one of the knobs to the showers and forced Lexi's head and neck under it. "Hey!" Lexi yelled, attempting to get out from under the cold water. He held her neck applying pressure to her, she couldn't move. "You need to cool down." He ordered. Lexi let the water soak her hair and drip down her face. She tried to ease her breathing but each time her thoughts wandered back to Mara, and she got angry again. Finally Dallas let her go and turned off the water. Lexi stood up and brushed her wet hair off her face. "What has gotten into you?" Dallas demanded.
