Chapter 2

Several days later

There had been an uptick in chatter and historical web searches on Riley's phone. Especially concerning The Declaration of Independence.

Since you were still in D.C. you wound up working security for The National Archive. You work under Doctor Abigail Chase.

You wear business attire with sensible shoes. Even though you don't look it, you do have a hidden standard issue gun on you. (Even if you're wearing a skirt and jacket, you still have a weapon on you.)

Nothing had happened so far.

That is until the day that Ben Gates walked through the door, accompanied by Riley Poole.

Of all the people to be involved, why him?  You think walking up to them. "Excuse me, may I help you?" You ask.

"We're here to see Doctor Chase." Ben says. He has short brown hair and honestly looks like he needs to get more sleep.

"I'll let her secretary know." You say with a nod.

"Y/N." Riley says with a smile of recognition.

You smile back and go let Doctor Chase's secretary know.

Why am I doing this? You think. When you had to do stuff like this before, you had no problem. Why does he make me feel this way? I mean he is kinda cute but...hang on. Am I attracted to him?  You shake your head dismissively. Nope, nope, nope. Whatever Personal life I have, stays separate from work. Especially when the guy is associated with the Templars.

The secretary waves them into Doctor Chase's office.

The door shuts behind them, leaving you in the lobby.

Since there's no pressing matters you check your phone.

The bug is still working and is currently listening and recording.

You press the button so it shows up as a text read-out. Since they've been recorded enough, the program recognizes Ben's and Riley's voices and labels them.

"A very cute man." Riley says.

You smirk. That usually happens when people see Doctor Chase's contact information. They're usually taken aback when they find out he, is actually a rather beautiful, blond. She also speaks with an accent from Saxony, Germany. 

There is a bit of flirting between Doctor Chase and Ben. He also shows an interest in her collection of George Washington Innaguraton Pins. 

Ben introduces himself as Paul Brown, and Riley introduces himself as Bill.

Apparently, there's supposed to be an invisible treasure map on the back of The Declaration of Independence.

Doctor Chase is skeptical at best.

Ben and Riley had both tried alerting the F.B.I. and Homeland Security.

That makes you wonder. Templars usually have friends in high places that can pull strings for whatever means. Why are they going in circles?

No clue.

You continue to read the conversation and crack up when Doctor Chase asks if Bigfoot took the pipe they had found in the Arctic.

Wait a minute. Pipe what pipe?

Then the conversation started winding down.

Ben thanked her for her time.

You hide your phone before Ben and Riley exit the office.

"Go on ahead, I'll catch up." Riley says to Ben.
