Several Months Later
Country of REDACTED
Jungle of REDACTED"I can nearly taste that artifact." You say, surveying the cave entrance. You wipe your forehead with a bandana that's in your favorite color.
You can see inside the cave for a few feet before it becomes nothing but pitch dark. The cave is wide-mouthed and made of rough-cut stone that looks natural until you use your Eagle Vision. Green leafy vines have begun their descent from the top but hang about two feet from the ten-foot-high mouth.
You're wearing clothes that would allow you to survive in a high-humidity, high-temperature environment. On your person, you carry Your Glock, Hidden Blades, a grappling hook, a body camera, and a backpack with other equipment.
You have spent the last several months learning the local language, culture, and terrain. Your views on finding the artifact are, don't break anything, and don't make a mess, of any artwork and/or other artifacts.
So basically, don't do like most Fantastical Archeology Movies.
You check your notepad since even your fancy Assassin's Phone wouldn't be able to get a signal out there.
The Bow of Artemis was last seen in the jungle of REDACTED. The bow is powered by moonlight and gives the user incredible accuracy. It does not use regular arrows, but pure moonlight.
After doing a lot of detective work, you narrow the possible location down to this cave. One of the things being that the locals usually avoided it.
Finding that out gives you the nagging fear of some sort of fungus may be down there. Or at least some sort of unmapped underwater cave network.
If that's the case, you'll have to come back later with diving equipment and phone in for a buddy. Which you should have been assigned one, to begin with, but with the Assassins spread so thin, there wasn't an unassigned one. Even the Novices we're doing enough for two people.
You slip your waterproof notebook into your cargo pants pocket and button the flap. (Even if you're wearing shorts, you still have functional cargo pockets.)
You reach into your backpack and pull out a headlamp with an elastic band. You click on the red filter so you won't scare any wildlife, then slip it on.
"Let's get started." You say, entering the cave.
It feels slightly cooler inside than out. The floor begins to slope downwards and you can hear the gentle plink! Of dropping water.
You switch on your body camera that's attached to your shirt. It's lightweight and can handle a drop from five stories onto concrete.
"Entry number five - fifty - seven. It's four thirty in the afternoon. The conditions are hot and humid, and I am entering the cave. It's a tad cooler in here, but I don't have a thermometer. I'm going by feeling only."
The stone floor slopes downward, for several hundred feet. You wonder just how far underground you have already gone.
All of a sudden you stop and look down.
If you had taken another step, you would have fallen into a pit of an undeterminable depth.
You tilt the camera so it can see the pit.
"Phew! That was a close one, let's see if there's another way around." You look around but all you can see are walls.
No pressure pads, switches, or a way to climb up and jump across.
The pit is also too wide to try jumping alone.
"No way around, so let's try Eagle Vision," You switch on your Eagle Vision, then you see it. "By the walls, there's some kind of platform. It goes from one side of the wall to the other, in a zigzag, to the other side of the gap. I'm tossing out my grappling hook to see if it's actually there."
