Chapter 13

Assassin's Secret Headquarters, Location: Classified

You get patched up and make it to the Assassin HQ's medical bay.

There you have to spend a few days for observation, even though all went well healing you.

You take the time to continue healing and finally relax.

During this time, Riley stays by your side, at what time he isn't away for lessons.

Because of what he knew of the Templars and Assassins, he's allowed to join. What you had told William over the phone is also taken into account.

Riley is training to be a tech person like Shaun, but he's still having to do a lot of field training.

One day, while he visits you in medical, he mentions your fake last name.

"Your file was pulled as part of a training exercise." He says, sitting on the edge of your bed, facing you.

"Ok."

"Your last name was different. It wasn't F/L/N, it was R/L/N. Why's that?"

You sigh, sitting up in your bed.

"Since you're training, I'm just going to come on out with it. I was undercover before we met. I kept the alias until I found out more," You say, not mentioning your disproven suspicion of him being a Templar. "Since you were procuring the info for the treasure, you were a point of interest too."

"Was dating me part of your plan?"

"Nope. I actually wanted to date you." In hindsight, this was true, even though he did tell you about the treasure hunting.

"Did you at some point think I was a Templar?"

"Uh…only because of Ian being one, and you having gotten the information for him. Then there was that bit of your previous job being at Absturgo."

He bites his lip.

"But, but! You disproved me with how you reacted when I threatened Ian. And of course when you told Kara and those Absturgo goons to go to Hell. So you proved me wrong in like two days. Also, what I said about you was taken into account with you joining the Assassins. My reports prevetted you."

"We're the reports, you texting the Assassins? You mentioned something like that at the clothing store after I cracked the Silence Dogood letters."

"It was."

There's a moment of silence.

"It all makes sense now." Riley says.

"Are we breaking up? It feels like you're about to say that."

"No," he says shaking his head. "Unless you do."

"No," you say, also shaking your head. "I don't want to. My turn to ask a question."

"Ask away."

"You said 'I love you' when we were falling. Did you mean it?"

"I do," he says, starting to blush. "I thought we were going to die, and I didn't want to die without you knowing."

"I love you too." Then because you feel the need to say it, "I'm sorry for not telling you what was going on. I thought that the less you knew, the safer you'd be. Well…it was until I found out Ian was with Absturgo, and Kara got in the mix."

"So you thought you were keeping me safe?"

"Yeah, I honestly didn't expect Ian to be a full-blown Templar."

"Is there anything else I should know?"

You hum thoughtfully, "Not to my knowledge," You say, "Riley, I love you. I really do."
