"Just where have you been?"
Jungkook stops pacing the floors of the Inn room long enough to scold me for leaving. He has a worried expression, which is replaced by his eyebrows furrowing together in irritation.
"I was fixing your mess!" I snap back, holding up the fiercely glowing ball of light. My feet carry me over to my basket, where I slide it in with the other ingredients. "I'm a witch, not a thief! I don't steal from princes. I took it back and apologized."
"You what?!" He jumps, and I'm sure he would leap from his skin if he could. "Are you trying to get killed?"
"Oh, would you relax?" I turn to face him, my own irritation building up. "I like Hoseok. He's nice to me. In fact, he's nice to everyone. I don't know why you think all of your brothers hate you when they've all been nothing but kind."
"Taehyung tried to cut my head off with a sword, remember?" He grits, becoming infuriated.
"I think you have a communication issue." I plainly say, hopping in the bed and pulling the covers up to my neck. "Now that I've fixed your mess, I'm going to sleep."
I turn my back away from him, and even though I can't see his face, I know its contorted with irritation.
"Oh, and one more thing." I stop him as he prepares to lie back down in the floor. "The ball you took was a fake. So technically I saved the potion from being funky. You're welcome."
I hear him give an exasperated huff, and then the thud of his backside hitting the wooden floor as he lies down.
Before I manage to fall asleep, I hear both Jin's and Hoseok's words replay in my mind. They're right. Jungkook isn't telling me the whole truth, but I'm going to find out. I swear on it.
Jungkook must have read my mind about missing home, because to get to the Shadow Kingdom, it's a long and tedious process of going back through our Forest Kingdom. Our argument and kiss have been long forgotten, or so it seems.
Last night was just a mess.
He said that this kingdom neighbors his own, but on the backside. I imagine its shrouded by all the mighty trees in the Forest Kingdom, and their shadow is what makes it dark in the Shadow Kingdom.
Or so I'm guessing. I don't really know, and he hasn't done much explaining. But apparently, this is the kingdom he's been dreading to go to, and if it's like any of the others, he and this prince just have some communication issues that need sorted.
I'm grateful to him when we stop by my small cottage, nothing changing in the weeks we've been traveling together. Other than the roses that have taken over the window sill, but I'm glad to see them growing.
Even though I'm sure our journey is coming to an end, I stock up on more flying potions that I had premade. Just in case.
So now I'm once again on my broom, and he's riding Dante beside me. The DeJa'Vu is overwhelming. It feels like the first day we met.
I follow along beside him, us both under the canopy of the treetops. After a while, we pass by his castle, ducking through the trees until we're now past it. The woods have gotten considerably thicker and darker, a slight fog moving in as well.
Dante's hooves become hidden under the white smoke, him becoming more spooked by the second. Jungkook notices too, and he pulls him to a stop.
"We're almost there." He informs me, hopping off to tie Dante to a tree. "Sorry old boy, but I'm leaving you here."
Once again, he hitches a ride with me, us passing by gnarly trees and an even denser fog. The wind from us flying splashes it out of the way, but its not long after that its back. I pick up the pace, wanting to get out of here. The atmosphere is enough to give me the chills all over.
