As much as I was serious about attending school, I had no choice but to skip it today, since my focus was now fully on martial classes. I reaching into the pocket, pulling out my phone, staring at the old man's contact for a few seconds, before actually callingto clarify the address.
He sounds like he's one ladder away from heaven. Or hell.
The martial art classes were scheduled on 4pm, as I decided to focus on studying for finals for a few hours, before I could get my ass beaten. Lazy or not, i didn't want to fail.
It wasn't the pressure of school, teachers - it was mostly me being too hard on myself. A habit of making myself be perfect in every aspect of my life, a habit that developed on its own. Or not.
Not even an hour later I found myself laying on a couch and watching the most boring and cliched anime, the comedic lines being so cheesy that I laughed at how stupid they were. Realizing how I wasn't locking in, I mentally slapped myself for this usual lack of concentration and decided to start in just five minutes.
Or ten.
Okay, maybe twenty.
And as the things always went, of course I didn't lay a finger on the books. In fact, the next time I checked time, I had to rush out of the house in panic, realizing I was almost late to the goddamn martial arts class.
I turned the apartment upside down, trying to find the keys, which made me feel even more nervous. Eventually, I made my way to the old man's house, taking a deep breath before knocking on the door. Though instead of the geezer, I was invited in by a blonde girl, a pretty one, I must add.
"Hi, I'm- Oh you're a girl?" She gasped, "I thought a boy would be attending my grandfather's classes but it's even better! I'm Emma Sano, nice to meet you..?"
Good lord she's so gorgeous. I wonder if she has a boyfriend. Or a girlfriend.
"My pleasure, Emma! I'm L/n Y/n, please just call me Y/n," I smiled, being more than happy to have been greeted with such warmness.. She nodded, guiding me further into the training room. Before she opened the door, she grabbed my arm and whispered, "Good luck, Y/n, my grandpa is one hell of a teacher. If you survive this lesson, please come to my room, it's across the hall." She winked and smiled at me. I slowly nodded. Making new friends wouldn't hurt, especially if it's the granddaughter of my teacher.
"Grandpa, she's here!" Emma shouted, as I glanced around the house with no shame.
"I see. Where's Manjirou?" Oldie asked, slowly making his way towards me, already sizing me up, as if to see if I even have the potential in the first place.
Emma's expression changed to an annoyed one, "Probably skipping school again or being busy with his stupid fights."
As nosy as I was, I secretly listened to their conversation. Manjirou? Fights? Was he another wannabe fighter? Given how his grandpa was praised by the locals for his skills, he was either the greatest fighter or a typical childish one.
Soon enough, Emma headed to her room, leaving me and this geezer alone.
"L/n, starting off today i will be your martial arts teacher. If you want to achieve results faster and become a well trained brat, i would recommend you going here every day for 2-4 hours, you will be the one to decide the lesson time. Today is our first lesson and i suppose you know nothing about it, right?"
I slowly nodded, glancing around the training room. I've only seen Mizo Mid Crew's and anime fights.
...
"Mhm, i see potential here," He said stretching my back to, what it felt like, to the fucking sky.
I feel like i'm gonna see heaven earlier than this devil. Potential, my ass.
