The clubhouse was a total contrast to the lazy spinning air of the school corridor. Peter silently pushed open the door, peeping into a crowd of students.Peter surveyed the numbe rof heads in the room, searching of Mary's presence. It was going to be difficult. The clubhouse was a mixture hundreds of conversations told in loud voices, all of them competing with the rock music that dominated the atmosphere. The crowd was the young students of MidTown rushing across the room in prepartion of the upcoming Halloween and the Match Making event preceding it. Students in bright neon dresses grooved to different music playing ine after the other, practicing dances. There were others who indugled in decortions, putting up banners, lights and also tables for a small make-shift bar-table.
Peter surveyed the room once again, trying to notice the red hair amongst all the colourful costumes, commuting bright lights and embracing chaos. Peter slowly tiptoed among the tall group of seniors beside the door, and then as a couple of dancer passed in front of him, Peter luckily spotted the large ass of Ned sticking out from a particular chair at the bar table.
Peter winds his body through the warm bodies around him, reaching for the seat next to Ned. "Hey Ned!" he greeted
Ned remained unbothered, unceasingly staring at a galss of blue mojito and plate of tacos in front of him. He looks at his wrist watch, then laughing madly to himself as he decided to pour some more mojito into the glass. Before the drink touches the rim of the glass, he feels someone melting their body to his from behind and turns to look around at Peter.
"Hey Bett---oh Oh! Peter!" Ned startles, getting up with a surprise.
"Hie. Hie! You were expecting someone else?"
"Huh?" asks Ned, inaudible through the loud music in the room.
"Were you expecting someone?" Peter asks, this time growing closer to Ned's ears.
"Ah! Why? No-no. No one at-at all." Ned stammers, trying to act normal.
"Well, then yod didn't tell me you filled the form tfor the event too?" Peter asks, trying to reach out or a taco on the plate.
"Heyu! Stop!" screams Ned, slapping Peter's hand halfway onto the plate.
"Why would you do that? I am your friend!" Peter cries funnily, watching Ned slide the plate away from Peter.
"Coz-coz. It not healty--" Ned breaks, nale to think any further, "Anways, what bring you here? What event did you choose?"
"Uhm" Peter murmurs, squinting his eyes to the loud music, "I think, I will go with that ostume thingy. After all we also have to wear a costume for Halloween, so it will work for both, 8 guess."
"Woah!" Ned screams, half-listening as he searchs for someone in the crowd.
"Who are you looking for?"
"Ah, noone dude. But, where's your costume?"
"Not made one yet!"
"What? You haven't got one? That what are you even planning to do here?"
"Ah, I am actually here to---"
"For MJ?" asks Ned, guessing rest of Peter's statement.
Peter nods blushingly, seatching into the booming crowd of people and lights.
"She will surely agree, I swear. I just saw her pass onto the other side." started Ned, poinying blindly into a the opposite corner of room, as he once again looked at his watch. "But I am not sure, if it was her. She was in some lacy clothes---"
