Chapter 11 : Boarding, Confession and Courtship

It was a beautiful morning in East High, Gina tried to recall but couldn't exactly remember what happened last night and how she got on her bed. All she knows is that she and Ej were talking last night and she asked if he could take her home. Although that is not what worries her, she is worried how is she gonna tell Miss Jenn that she would not be able to do the show.

"Here goes." Gina said

Knock on the door

"Miss Jenn?" I said
"Hi Gina my dear! Come in! Come in!" Miss Jenn replied. "What can I do for you and help you with?" Excitedly as she was sitting down behind her desk motioning for me to sit on the plush couch in her office.
I don't really know how to tell her but I have to, I've bargained with my mom to let me stay in Salt Lake even just for the opening night, but she insisted that we leave right away due to the urgency of the matter and that she doesn't want to do all the work on her own. I was devastated because we've worked so hard for this and as much as I don't want to leave, I have no choice.

"Miss Jenn, I have to tell you something." I said, nervous at what her reaction would be.
"Yes my dear? What is it?"
"I'm afraid I have to leave before the opening night." I said, shaking at my core and thinking of the things that she would say.
Shocked, Miss Jenn was taken aback at this news from me, I tried to tell her the best way I can but there is no better way to say this thing.

There was an awkward silence between the both of us, but I explained to Miss Jenn why I needed to leave the show and how I pleaded with my mom to let me do the opening night.

"I can't say I am not shocked, 'cause I am, but if that's what's best then I would have to agree with your mom. We will surely miss having you and your amazing stage presence, I've never seen such talent like yours and I hope you'd be able to come visit us as often as you can." Miss Jenn said

"Thank you Miss Jenn, I'm sorry for having just told you about it. I really wanted to do the show." Now my eyes are getting teary because I have to leave again. "Can you please do me a favor?" I asked. "What is it?" Miss Jenn asked. "Can you please tell the theater kids about this? It's been bugging me and I couldn't get myself to tell them myself, this past few weeks has been a lot." I said to her while trying to hold back more tears that wants to flood from my eyes.

"Okay, my dear." Miss Jenn said as she held my hand and lightly squeezed it.

"WHAT?!!"
A collective echo could be heard in the auditorium. Ej was the most affected out of everybody.
"How Miss Jenn? What happened to Gina?" Nini asked
Ashlyn and Kourtney shared hushed conversation and everybody was still shocked with this news from Miss Jenn
"When is she leaving?" Ej asked.

Ej then rushed out of the room, Ashlyn followed him and tried to catch up.

"Ej, where are you going?" Ashlyn asked
"I'm gonna head over to Gina's, if I go there now I might be able to catch up with her and her mom." Ej, with a look that Ashlyn had never seen before and knew that whatever it was, Ej was serious about it. That is why she let him be.

"Did Ej go to Gina's?" Nini and Kourtney asked
"Yeah." Ashlyn said
"She's the 2nd most talented dancer out of everyone of us and it sucks to see her leave." Carlos exclaimed, saddened by the fact that he would no longer have a dance buddy during rehearsals.
"You know that's not true Carlos." Seb replied to him
"Can't you just support me for once?" Carlos told him.
"Enough of that you two; we need to fill in Gina's shoes, she wouldn't be happy if we do not give our best in our perfomance" Ashlyn said
"Yeah, Ashlyn's right, we need to do this for Gina. Nini is her understudy and they worked closely for the past rehearsals too." Ricky said, "and we can ask Mr. Mazzarra if we could have the AV club set up a recording so we could send it to Gina too." He added. Everybody agreed and on they went with rehearsals, Ricky stepped in for Ej at the moment.
