Chapter 3 : The Auditions

Now that the musical has already been figured out. It's now time for AUDITIONS.

The theater was frantic with all the bustle of the theater kids. They were so busy with last minute preparations and nervous with everything that is going on.

Nini was trembling, this will be the first time that she will audition for a lead role. Christine Daeé.
Meanwhile, it isn't Gina's. She was used to bagging lead role after lead role from her previous school. To her, this was her escape. Here, she can be vulnerable, to feel. Ej on the otherhand was confident that he would be able to bag the male lead, and he kept on encouraging Nini that she can do this.
Ricky was at the far side of the room looking at Ej and Nini being all too sweet. He isn't expecting much because he primarily joined the club to get Nini back and will do everything that he can so that he could get back with Nini.

"I'm nervous." Nini was shaking
"Don't be, you got this!" Ej encouraged her. You're better than everybody else around here, you have the voice, the looks, everything.

"Okay, kids! Gather around!"
"We'll now begin the audition process. So do your best and just be yourself." Miss Jenn said to the whole class.

After hours on end of auditions, Miss Jenn was quite impressed.

Gina was outstanding in her performance, being a trained dancer, actress and singer. She killed her perfomance. All her schoolmates were awestruck after her performance. Ej was shocked looking at Gina's perfomance, she was literally flawless Ej thought to himself but, he took that of his mind and told himself that Nini was better.
Nini was a close second, and everybody applauded her.
Ej brought his A-game in his audition.
Ashlyn voice was extremely beautiful while Kourtney's was poeerful.
Everybody did their best and enjoyed in the process.

"That was a great audition kids, Carlos will be posting the list this afternoon, thank you all very much!" Miss Jenn told them.

It was the wait the was very nerve wracking, 'cause you never know who got what part.

"Aaaaaand the listing is up!" Carlos informed everyone

All of them practically ran to the posted list.

Christine Daeé - Gina Porter
The Phantom - Ej Caswell
Raoul - Ricky Bowen
Meg Giry - Nini Roberts
Carlotta - Ashlyn Caswell
Madame Giry - Kourtney
...

Everyone was pleased with the results, except Ej.
He was pissed that Nini didn't get the part. He even went to kick the trashbin sitting at the corner.

"Hey, it's alright." Nini said to Ej to calm him
"I really wish you had the part. You've worked so hard for it." Ej was hurt for her.
But little did he know that Nini is hurting too because she wanted the part as badly as he did. But she didn't tell him so that he won't feel so bad about it. Ricky saw it in her eyes when he took a glance.

"Hey, congrats on getting the lead." Nini said to Gina who was busy texting someone.
"Thank you. That's so nice of you." Gina thanked her. "You were really good up there too and I thought for one moment that you would be getting the lead." Gina told her sincerely.
"Thank you. I'm Nini by the way." She held out her hand to Gina and they shook hands
"It was nice meeting you, Nini." Smiled Gina

Both of them went on their way after that little introduction.

Ej was still a little frustrated but was over it quickly.

"Isn't she the one you told me about the other day? The one you helped out?" She told Ej
"Yeah, she was."
"She seems nice." Nini said. "If you say so." Ej nodded, ignoring the last part of Nini said.

While they were walking towards the parking lot to go to Ej's car, Nini received a text from Ricky.

"Hey Nini, can we talk?" Texted Ricky
"Who's that?" Ej asked
"Oh, it's Ricky, he says he wanted to talk." Nini replied
"Are you going?" Ej seems a little mad about it.
"A little talk can do no harm, right?" Nini said, rubbing Ej's arm to sort of calm him down, since she saw that his eyes were like fire.

Ej won't admit it but he's scared, he's scared that Nini will leave him for Ricky. He knows that she loved him for when they met, she couldn't stop talking about him almost everyday at camp. How he took care of her, how he loved her, how important he was to her. It was then where Ej found out that the two of them had broken up. Ej consoled Nini and got a little closer to her. He found himself wanting to take care of her, to make her feel loved, from that moment on, he asked her to be his girlfriend and she said yes. But still, he couldn't keep his insecurity towards Ricky when it comes to Nini. He feels like Nini isn't really his...
