The Doctor runs her hands over the buttons of the main control panel.
"Where to now?" she says. Her words reverberate against the walls of the empty TARDIS.
She decides to wing it for once. She presses random buttons and waits for her ship to start.
She doesn't have to wait long before the TARDIS is hurtling through time and space. She feels the rush of excitement that she always gets from piloting the TARDIS.
Suddenly everything stops. The Doctor walks over to the door of the TARDIS and stares out .
The TARDIS is suspened in the middle of the blackness. Galaxies float past the TARDIS door.
The Doctor looks out at the vastness of space, she sees stars burning up and planets colliding, she sees constalations being formed and new life being created.
She sits on the edge of her TARDIS and watches the universe fly past her as she sits peacefully in the doorway of the TARDIS, a few centimetres and she would fall into the dense blackness, never to be seen again.
The Doctor takes a deep breath as she stares in awe at the beauty of space and time. She doesn't have all the answers to her past but for now that is okay.
She is free.
