"ZANDER!" Hailey chided, "Why would you say that?"
"I- I- I-" Zander couldn't make out any words.
"It doesn't matter! All that matters now is finding Milly. Sean you check underneath the stairs, that's where Milly sometimes goes to be alone. Luke, check the places that don't have a lot of people, empty classrooms, closets, Milly will probably want to be alone. I'll check the girls bathroom and the hallways."
"What can I do?" Zander asked.
Hailey turned to look at him. "Just stay here and think of what to say to Milly when we find her."
Hailey looked at Sean and Luke, "Come on let's go."
Sean and Hailey left the room but Luke lingered behind. "Don't worry Zander, I know you didn't mean it. When we find Milly make sure to tell her that."
Luke kissed Zander on the forehead and left the room with a bittersweet smile. Then he started to run in order to catch up to the others.
Zander sat down on the floor, filled with regret for what he had said out of anger. He had to apologize to Milly, but what would he say?
